EVGA GeForce 7900 GTX Preview - PAGE 7
Tom Karpik - Thursday, March 9th, 2006

F.E.A.R.

The GeForce 7900 GTX has a decisive though shrinking lead in the non-AA/non-AF tests as we ramp up the resolution, with the X1900 XT and and 7800 GTX 512 flirting with each for second place. Once we crank up the AA/AF sweetness, the X1900 XT snags the lead, again most likely due to a better AA/AF implementation. The GeForce 7900/7800 cards seem to undergo more of a performance hit than the X1900 with these two options enabled.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory clearly favours the X1900 XT all throughout the testing. The 7900 GTX and its ATI equivalent start out tied (obviously a CPU bottleneck at this point), but then the X1900 XT inches ahead as we turn up the resolution. With it already being in the lead, the X1900 XT steals a decisive victory with AA/AF enabled.
