Test Setup

For this report, we used identical single and dual-core Intel CPUs, along with a single and SLI video card configuration. The exact list of hardware used is as follows:

• Intel Pentium 4 670 @ 4.0 GHz (250 MHz * 16, 2 MB L2, one core)
• Intel Pentium D 840 @ 4.0 GHz (250 MHz * 16, 2 MB L2, two cores)
• ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard
• 2x 512MB Corsair PC 8000 UL XMS2 DDR2 memory
• 2x BFG GeForce 7800 GTX video cards
• Western Digital 120 GB SATA hard drive

Driver versions used were nForce4 SLI for Intel version 7.15, and ForceWare version 81.98. Let's get started with 3DMark 06.

As we can see from the above graphs, there is no difference between the single and dual-core CPUs in these benchmarks. They are entirely dependant on the video card in use.
