Gigabyte GN-B49G Review - PAGE 2
Andy Zen - Tuesday, May 25th, 2004

The Contents

Inside the box, we hoped to find some goodies (free hardware or software is always good for the end user, even if it turns out to be useless). Other than the standard 3 foot straight Ethernet cable, driver CD, power supply, the manual and the router itself, the only thing to note was the wall stand. This stand allows the router to stand on its end (hence the stand) as well as mounting it on the wall like a thermostat (hence the wall). Even though it is merely a piece of plastic that attaches onto the router, it is a feature that I haven't seen on other routers (both in this roundup and elsewhere) due to their shape (Microsoft, Buffalo) and size (Linksys).

The Router

What better way to describe a product than to give you the entire marketing spiel from Gigabyte themselves.

Most notable is the physical dimensions and the support for many of the latest technologies, such as WPA and Atheros' Super-G mode. There are a few other companies that also support it, which means it is possible to get another company's wireless cards to work in turbo mode. However, Gigabyte also produces their own wireless cards (to pair with the router, but testing did not make it in time for this review).

Here you can take a look at the shape of the router.
