Corsair CM2X512-8000UL DDR2 Review - PAGE 3
William Henning - Friday, February 3rd, 2006

Sandra

The highly overclocked 840 has the best Sandra result on this chart; followed closely by the highly overclocked 560. The common factor in the two results: very high FSB speed, with a 1.16GHz FSB used for the 840 results, and a 1.066GHz FSB for the 560 results.

Moral of the story: The P4 Netburst architecture is bottlenecked by its front side bus.

Going from 800MHz FSB with the 840 to 1160MHz FSB resulted in a 44.3% memory bandwidth increase for a 45% bus speed increase and similarly going from an 800MHz with the 560 to a 1066MHz FSB 33.5% memory bandwidth increase for a 33.25% bus speed increase.

WinRAR

WinRAR is roughly equally influenced by bus bandwidth and processor speed, gaining 28.4% from the increased processor, memory and FSB speed.
