OCZ vs Corsair: OCZ PC3-10666 Platinum Dual Channel Review - PAGE 1
William Henning - Monday, July 16th, 2007

Today we are taking a look at OCZ's low latency dual channel DDR3 memory kit.

As we have come to expect from OCZ, they take the JEDEC standards - then out do them. The JEDEC standard for DDR3-1333 is 9-9-9-24 - which is the rated timing of the Corsair TWIN3X2048-1333CL9DHX we recently reviewed; however OCZ was far more ambitious, going for a more aggressive 7-7-7-20 timing.

How much of a difference will that make? You'll just have to read this review to find out.

The modules look like any other "platinum" series OCZ DDR2/3 sticks; so no surprises there. OCZ says each module is hand tested by them, and that the modules will take full advantage of Intel's P35 chipset.

Here are the specifications, "straight from the horses mouth" (OCZ's web site)

  • DDR3 1333MHz
  • 240 pin DIMM
  • CL 7-7-7-20 (CAS/TRCD/TRP/TRAS)
  • 1GB (2x512MB) and 2GB (2x1GB) kits
  • 1.8V default voltage
  • unbuffered, no ecc
  • "Platinum XTC Heatspreader"
  • lifetime warranty

Interesting how the default voltage is 1.8V instead of the 1.5V Corsair used...

Ok, let's get this show on the road!
