AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Review - PAGE 5
Carl Poirier - Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

TMPG is an application that converts sound and video files to other formats.

POV-Ray, for Persistence of Vision Raytracer, is a 3D rendering software that has impressive photorealistic capabilities.

The x4 955 won over the Q9650 in POV-Ray but it could not touch the Core i7 920 in this multi-threaded application. Hyper-Threading gives a big advantage to it compared to the others. The Phenom II lost in TMPG but it took back the lead once overclocked, though. Surprisingly, the Core i7 finished last in this benchmark. As we will see, in many other benchmarks, its lower frequency penalizes it.
