THE GOOD:Well, there are many things to build on with the good section. Almost 2 years after Red&Blue rescue team, the graphics are better and the story line much longer. Here are a few reasons why you should buy this game.
*Great Graphics
*Long storyline
*More partners to choose
*New moves
*More recruitables
*Wi-Fi
*No friend areas
THE BAD:
Well, there aren't many reason as to not get the game but there are a few that stand out. There are only a few bullet points in the section, but they are the main reasons why you shouldn't get this game.
*Wi-Fi is limited
*Gets boring after a while
*Seemingly predictable storyline
*Recruiting Pokemon seems to be tougher
Only a few reasons but those are the main ones why to not get this game.
SUMMARY:
Now these two games in the series are really unique as to the main games (such as Pokemon Diamond), which really makes them popular. The whole rescuing Pokemon and becoming Pokemon are the main reasons why they sold millions. There are specific aspects of the game that I will point out to you in categories, each shall get points out of 10.
Story: 7/10
Reason: Well, lets see here. Its about the same as the other game. You wake up somewhere not knowing where you are and a Pokemon that you choose finds you randomly. Choosing your partner will make all the difference in the game so it is imperative that you choose wisely. The partner system works great but they can drag you down. If they die then you get sent back to the start of the dungeon or head back to the guild.
It's a nice story and an interesting plot but it seems to drag on for awhile. It is, like I said earlier, kinda predictable and really repetitive. You are always waking up and saying hello to your partner the same over and over again, it gets really annoying. Sometimes you do the same work, such as sentry duty and missions, over and over again. The side quests aren't bad because they give you items, like reviver seeds, but that stalls the game for you.
Graphics: 8/10
Reason: The graphics are one of the more major improvements on the game. The sprites looks more detailed and the backgrounds are stunning. There are some simply amazing moments in the game where it shows how much work has been done to make it nice. Even the items on the dungeon floors have improved, there are some new floor designs and a lot for those 99 level dungeons. Sometimes though, you can tell it's a look-a-like from other floors, which dims down the uniqueness of the game.
Music: 8/10
Although the music doesn't really make a big difference in the game, it has improved. The main theme is different and there are more sound tracks in this one than the first installment. The only blemish is when you fight a monster house, after you defeat it, the same terror music goes on. Other then that, the music isn't really that bad.
Gameplay: 9/10
Reason: The game play not only in this game, but the older ones, is just phenomenal. They are different than the other regular games and in this one, there is a new reason to be careful. Yes, I'm talking about traps. In Time&Darkness, there are traps everywhere and they vary to spikes, Pokemon attracting scents, and many more. Movement has changed a little, instead of pressing Y to move diagonally you now use R.
The sizing system works the same, big Pokemon such as Dialga would take up more than one spot making it so the total amount of Pokemon you can carry in a dungeon is 3. The belly system hasn't changed either, your belly will empty the farther you go in the dungeon and you may eat gummies, apples, or any other edible substance to fill it up. You will loose heath if you don't.
Raising your IQ is as simple as eating a gummie. The type of your Pokemon will affect how much the gummie works. So if you're a fire type, eat a red gummie and your IQ will get a major burst. Sadly, there is no other way to raise your IQ. I'm not exactly sure what gummies do. I gave my partner a lot of them but nothing seems to change but your stomach size. Just like the other versions, you may recruit Pokemon you find in dungeons. There are some requirements in order to get them, you must have you partner facing North, West, East, and South and he must be the one to kill the Pokemon, not your partner. There are over four hundred ninety Pokemon you can recruit, with all generations included.
This game is and can be a bit tricky. Monster houses appear randomly and can kill you instantaneously and traps can cause you big trouble. The storyline itself will keep you thinking "What will happen next?" and it keeps you entertained for a long time. Plot twists will create a lot of suspense and you won't want to put your DS down.
Overall: 32/40
Like I said, this is a really big step forward from the first installment. The graphics are improved, the storyline is better and so is the plot, and even the music is better. Overall, it was better then the first one but there is still much more work to do. I believe that this game is worth buying but it has its blemishes.
