SUMMARY:
Zoo Tycoon was a great PC game, and was given high hopes for the DS interaction. However, this game falls incredibly far from its expectations. It's almost worth renting to see how bad this game is. There is no online in the game

Gameplay
Like the PC version, Zoo Tycoon DS allows either scenario situations or to play your own file. Either way, you will end up bored. The scenarios are very easy to beat, which creates a "waiting time". A waiting time is what I describe as the player waiting anxiously for the scenario to finish. The game was not designed so that when you do complete a scenario, it automatically ends. No matter how fast or slow you beat the scenario, you must wait until the time is done.

In free play, you can have more options with your park. This is where it becomes a bit more "enjoyable" to say the least, but after a while, it becomes boring. The land is too small to have large pens, or many animals.

The animals are a pain to unlock, and in some cases, aren't worth it. This is because some animals need a toy to play with, but these toys take forever to develop. It also costs money to discover new animals, a time and money-consuming project.

This video gives the idea of what a zoo could look like, an idea of the sounds and the dullness of the game. This also shows a great demonstration on how to create a good exhibit for an animal.

Sounds
The only decent feature to the game may just be the sounds. They may not be loud, but they do portray the animals correctly. The only downside would be the fast that when creating exhibits, the sounds are repeated ... a lot. They become quite annoying, making you want to shut off the game.

Graphics
If you buy this game, I recommend having decent eyesight. The graphics are very small and detailed in this game. If you zoom in to the max level, then moving around your park becomes harder. The top screen displays your park and the bottom screen

Controls
Arrows - Scroll through lists (on main screen) and move around the park
A - Accept/ Pick up and place animals
Touch Screen - Scroll through lists
Start - Paused
Select - Display Park

Lasting Opinions/Recommendations
This game could really be improved, and was a huge disappointment in the Zoo Tycoon mini-series. From personal experience, I found the game ridiculously easy and very boring. I played for less than 2 hours when I put it away for good. I highly don't recommend this game; you might as well save your money!
