In an attempt to bring the fast paced, first person action of bond shooters in the past to the GBA, The recent bond game "nightfire" was ported onto the tiny protable console.
Mission SNAFU, return to base.
if the twitchy walking bond opening of the game wasn't hint enough, this definatly isn't the greatest looking game on the GBA...
The game starts off simple enough, some bad guy is going to take over the world, blah blah blah... you know the rest.
the game's story moves by watching static cut scenes, where theres some text and a bit of a slide show dipicting what's going on. yawn...
as if the shoddy graphics weren't bad enough, the gameplay matches...
movement is clunky, and aiming at the bad guys (who are in no short supply) is even worse. you're forced to hold down both the R and the L button to activate crosshair movement, which makes running and shooting impossible.
the enemies are more dumb than the graphics. most of the time they wont even see you unless you're shooting at them. but just because they're dumb doesn't mean that they cant kill you. later in the game these guys become really good shots, and they're constant strafing back and forth along with the fact that you're shooting at a bunch of thin pixles makes them really annoying, and deadly.
alright, enough put downs, lets look at whats actually GOOD about this game...
though the graphics and gameplay are laughable, there are still those notable james bond elements in the game. like neat gadgets, powerful weapons, and stealth tactics.
Enough blabber, let's break it down.
Gameplay: 3, clunky controls and terrible graphics bring this game down signifigantly. you'll find better first person shooter graphics in the original "doom"
Story: 3, it's the same old plot for world domination here...
Graphics: 2, one word can describe this game: pixlated.
Sound: 3, the music isn't anything to file a report about, and the sound effects arn't either. but just hearing the sound guys make when you take the taser to them is hilarious.
If nightfire justifies one thing, it's that first person shooters dont belong on the GBA.
