THE GOOD: - First Person Mode - Better graphics - The new cutscenes are amazing - Great voice acting
THE BAD: - It's a remake
SUMMARY: I must say that I really enjoyed MGS:TTT. I reccomend this game to any person new to the MGS series. Some vets will complain about the same storyline, etc, etc. Although the story is the same it's still worth getting. This game also has great new cutscenes. Although a few are over the top, must of them are pretty cool looking. The Twin Snakes also has the First Person Mode from MGS2, which I loved. Now in days MGS's graphics look dated, the Gamecube's are way better than those. The one negative thing I must say is the game may seem to be to much alike MGS to warrant a purchase. Now you might be wondering to rather to get this or the original MGS. My answer to you is TTT. IMO it is a big improvement over the original. Another thing I don't like is the boss fights, the First Person mode...
THE GOOD: The story, the characters, the new cut-scenes, the new moves, the game altogether. Period.
THE BAD: The slightly awkward controls (at first).
SUMMARY: This game is a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid for PS1. In my opinion, the original MGS was the greatest game that I have ever played. But that was before I played this game.
When I first played the original, I never knew how good it would be until I looked at myself playing it, thinking about it, or writing about it almost 24/7. The moments in the game, from the stealth element to Psycho Mantis to Meryl's Codec to the ketchup, it is the best game ever. I was anticipating the remake for months after I heard about it. And when I first played it, it had the same feel of the first one. Though the controls take some getting used to, when you get into it, you can't stop.
But now the question is, is 'Twin Snakes' better? Well, for a veteran Metal Gear player, I would...
Well to start out MGS:twin Snakes is a complete remake that can be look at in two ways. The first way, which im sure you heard by now, is a awesome remake of one of the finest games in Playstation history. The second way would be a remake that offers nothing new. Sadly, IMO, the latter stands out the most.
The biggest thing that makes this game remotely better the first MGS on psone is the graphics. Silicon Knights did an excellent job at remaking this game. The graphics are flawless with hardly any jags and no slow down rate when the sparks begain to fly (from my exp). The cinematics can be look at the same way but personally, all this jumping around and "bullet time" their starting starting to cram into game and movies nowadays starts making me sick and this game cinematic has TONS of that stuff. Now with the Ninja this is understandable, but when snake starts flipping over bullets and jumping on missiles and sticking to walls himself, its time to say enough. As for...
THE GOOD: Great cinematics. Great presentation. Great Storyline
THE BAD: Not so bad framerate. Same gameplay. Same storyline. Almost exact same game 5 years ago.
SUMMARY: MGS:Ts can be considered silent hit of the year. Depend on how you look at it. Living to its name from a game that was greatly praised for its era 5 years ago is something that everybody should be proud of.
You can call it a remake... But you cant say its a new game. Sure it incorporated MGS: Sons of Liberty gameplay into this "new" game but is it really helpful? Gameplay wise, players are able to take advantage of First Person Shooting, dragging bodies, weapons from SoL but other than that, there isnt much thought put into this additions. Silicone Knights seems to thoughtless put all this new gameplay elements without adjusting the "aging" gameplay of MGS: TS. Bosses seems to be alot easier when shooting in first person mode, hiding bodies is an addition but seems...
People say that The Twin Snakes is not graphically on par with Sons of Liberty, and they naturally blame the Nintendo Gamecube. I disagree. I have not seen such beautiful graphics on ANY NGC game, and this beats out 99% of all Playstation 2 games I've ever played or seen. It's got the SoL standards, but with a better storyline.
Story: 11/10
The classic story remade, simple as that.
Gameplay: 9/10
Since this is the first MGS game to hit NGC, the controls are strange for us MGS veterans. It's not pressure-sensitive, and lacks enough buttons to have very comfortable controlling. You have to use combinations in this where it's a single button in SoL, an example: to lower your gun, you don't let up the pressure slowly on the button, instead, you press another button to "safety" the gun. Very frustrating and not too flowing.
THE GOOD: Voice acting is good, the graphics are fantastic,a couple of new things as well, such as extra cutscenes, the ability to throw magazine clips,a book with a girl from Eternal Darkness, yadayada.
THE BAD: They take away some of the accents, like Natasha Romanenko's and Mei-Ling's.The storyline is the same as the original,so its not that much worth buying if you've played the original.
SUMMARY: Two years ago,i borrowed the original game for PS1 from a friend, because the one i had only had the first disk and locked up at the part where you meet Meryl in the bathroom.I also had a code disk that gave me some stuff.Even with the stuff,me and my other friend had a hard time beating the game.We had fun with the stealth suit and the guards.Anywhoo,it was a fun experience. We beat the game in about week.(everytime i went over to his house,i played it with him since he kept it)We stayed up all night to beat it when i spent the night.(I would like to...
THE GOOD: It's the game everyone's wanted to see made the way it's made now Hoo-ah! - at least since the sequel came out.
THE BAD: Extras. It needs extras, like some VR training to give Cube newbies a chance to learn the MGS ropes. Not much bad to say though.
SUMMARY: Although in less than a year, I'd speculate that Gamecubers will see a re-tooled version of The Twin Snakes on the market -something akin to MGS2: Substance. But with that said, don't wait to get out and get (at least rent) this game, because brother, if you've never done Metal Gear, you haven't seen the best the world of action games can throw at you.The Twin Snakes is at once a massive overhauling of one fantastic title, complete with new engine and playability components, and at the same time a subtle throwback and homage to what Hideo Kojima and the folks at Konami achieved on the PS1 hardware. I'll try to keep the comparisons to a minimum though since many who bought the...
SUMMARY: I could write this is a thread but bollocks 2 that i need the idiots that have written stupid comments 2 c this (u can all feel free to PM by the way)
First off Resi:Remake was amazing, people moaned they changed it & added things, new areas, new plot etc. Metal Gear Solid without a doubt one of the greatest games EVER! made, gets a remake with konami changing slight areas and slight bits of the plot and people still moan - you would moan if they made big changes, so they dont change the greatest game ever & u still moan. MGS:TS IS NOT A SCAM its all it claims 2 be, which is a remake of the greatest game ever - with enhanced visuals & everything MGS2 had to offer placed within it.
THE GOOD: -very good introduction for people who haven't played it on the PS/didn't quite get mgs2 -Cutscenes are amazing, graphics have a nice facelift -game is engrossing; way better story than mgs2
THE BAD: -fun ends -veterans/people who've played again might be a little bored(but will enjoy the new stuff)
SUMMARY: Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is an awesome remake (good job to those at Silicon Knights) of the game for the playstation 1 that was quite possibly the best game for the system, from it's rich storyline, awesome cutscenes, and fun gameplay. This action-packed adventure for the Nintendo Gamecube is sure to please. The graphics are superb and the cutscenes are better than some of those B-movies. The voices from the PS1 have been redone, and lines have been added/cut (Mei-Ling has an American accent! woop woop). The gameplay is fantastic- unlike Splinter Cell (which is a great game), you can get out of situations alive....
THE GOOD: Incredible new cutscenes; Enhanced moves and graphics; Much improved AI increases challenge
THE BAD: Rudimentary communication between characters; No lighting upgrades
SUMMARY: Metal Gear Solid owned 1998. It didn't matter what console you preferred, Solid Snake was the man of the hour. Well, consoles did matter, since Konami dealt only with Sony at the time. Old-school Nintendo Metal Gear fans were left out in the cold. Perhaps Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is both a love letter to a gaming great and a belated apology to those who missed out the first time.

The Twin Snakes is a gaming rarity. While Hideo Kojima has been working hard on Snake Eater, the series' third chapter, he's also been overseeing Silicon Knights revamp his genre-defining classic. It's not often that a master creator seizes the opportunity to revisit old classics (George Lucas certainly hasn't created an atmosphere of tolerance for those...
