THE GOOD:Not only one person to play as... but two, Jill and Chris. They both have their own uniqueness to them so that they won't be just different looking but with the same story.
Major touch-ups on the graphics from the original game for the Playstation, and not only that you can see extra areas never before seen such as the new Graveyard area and the appearance of Lisa Trevor.
There are various endings to go through with each character, each being different from each and having certain plot twists or something you would never expect, they are very interesting indeed.
Also included are a few extra weapons such as the Gasoline which lets you burn the zombies. And on that note as well, the zombies react a little bit better and are actually more lifelike (deadlike?).

THE BAD:
The story is still pretty much the same so you'll know everything that happens if you played the original.
Aiming wasn't improved much, you still get the three points for aim only which severely reduces your accuracy and increases wasted ammo (which is hard to come by).
SUMMARY:
After major success of Resident Evil on the Playstation the game eventually was announced to be ported onto the Gamecube, but not just the original, but a remake! I'm glad this happened as well because I certainly enjoyed the first one and this one turned out to be, in my opinion, ten times better.
The major reason I have to say is why this one is so much better is the voice acting. Why? Because if you compare:
Barry (PSX Version): "Take this lock Jill, you'll do much better with it. Since you are the master of the lockpicks."
TO
Barry (Cube Version): "Jill, take this lockpick, I know it'll be of better use in your hands."
Now try to tell me that the remade version doesn't sound better? And instead of having certain areas where live-acting was done the game was completely made with graphics which makes it look much better especially when the actors weren't so good on the previous one.
My favorite aspect of the gameplay is the way the cameras are positioned. They give the game more of a horror tone to it which is what the game is supposed to do. And they also make the game a little more challenging in the end.
A few extra puzzles were added into the game to make it last longer and just as before they are still hard to get by. Unfortunately this required for me to use an FAQ/Walkthrough to get by some of them which I hardly ever use so they certainly are puzzling. But don't worry if you don't understand them you'll find a way even without the help of anyone.
Unlike the original version the graphics give the game a sense of being alone and I think that the Gamecube had it's limits pushed because in the majority of the areas the background was dark and it added to the scariness of the game. The characters were also improved in a major way, compare this to this, with the first one looking much better.
As I said before there were a few extra weapons included such as one of my favorites, was the gasoline. The purpose of the gasoline was to burn any zombies to prevent them from coming back to life later on. And as before, the zombies are much more realistic to what you would see on a movie, which would be that they don't go down easily.
I have to say though, my most favorite part about the about the remake is the extra areas included into the game, the Lisa Trevor cabin, graveyard, or the bigger underground tunnels. They make the game last longer like this and I for one don't think that it would have turned out like it did without these new areas.
You'll be playing this game probably for around 15 hours if take your time and have fun with it but remember you could end up spending about 30 hours by having to play as both characters and find out each of their endings. And did I mention there are about 4-6 endings in all?
Anyone who hasn't played a good survival-horror game, I suggest you try out Resident Evil. Even for those shooter fans, it's not an original type of shooter but it gets the job done I think.
over all I think resident evil is one of the best games of our time thats my opinion and I can't wait to play resident Evil 5
