"Despite its interesting card battle system, Lost Kingdoms is a relatively weak start for Gamecube role-playing."

"Overall this is an awesome and original game. I would definitely recommend it to any RPG-fan and especially those who enjoy card-battling. Also a great idea to get if you know someone else who is getting it, the two-player battles are challenging and drive you to do well in the main game. Hopefully only the first of a long list of great RPG’s to come to Gamecube. "

"It's quite short and doesn't look or sound particularly good. You can tell that most of the effort went into the combat system."
"Rune can best be described as a sort of Pokemon battle game for an older audience... Rune's dark look and theme are refreshing, and the balance between exploration, combat and card collection in the game is intuitively executed."

"Lost Kingdoms is definitely worth the rental for RPG starved GameCube fans. There's enough to explore to keep you entertained for a few hours, at least. As a buy, however, you'd have to really love the idea of creating decks and replaying the game to really make it worth the purchase."
