THE GOOD: Pretty decent roster Royal Rumble is great Gameplay is awesomeTHE BAD: The models look like shit Season mode blows SUMMARY: This is a decent game. But I'll tell you this, whenever I play this game I only play Royal Rumble, and maybe a fatal four way Hell in a Cell. That's about it. The season isnothing special.
But something that saves this game, gameplay, something the SmackDown series doesn't have. The gameplay makes exhibition a whole lot more fun. But the graphics take away a lot of that fun.
The shopzone and training mode, which I like to call Tough Enough mode with Al Snow there, are all good 'extras' to this game. The training is very detailed and a great walkthrough.
Overall, it's average. But it does blow HCTP out of the water mainly due to it's strong gameplay. I give it a 3.5 out of 5. |

The best there is, was, but not what ever will be | 4.6 0 comments |

THE GOOD: The Wrestlers are less cartoony than X8, and their techniques, moves, and overall performance very close to the real superstars. If you pit Scott Steiner against the small Rey Mysterio, Rey will skip the petty striking moves and go strait to flips and twists, while Steiner will use his strength to slow him down and ground him for good. Things like that, and minor superstar attributes (Ric Flair's constant chops to the chest, for example) propel this game to the top of the rasslin' genre. For now, that is. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Three words: Create-A-Wrestler!!!THE BAD: While the wrestlers look better than ever, their interaction with eachother is clunky. The interaction with tables, ladders, and even eachother makes matches hard to enjoy if your trying to pull of an over the top move. For example; if you try to do a 3D through a table, first of all you have to get the postion and timing exactly right, And if you actually pull one off, the table will magically fly out from underneath you, causing your controller to go on the endagered species list. And the entrances could be cleaned up a little, especially the HHH water effects. SUMMARY: This game, despite minor graphical setbacks, is amazingly fun to play. You'll never play a normal match again after you discover the full potentials of the Hell-in-a-Cell or immerse yourself in the ruleless, ruthless TLC matchs. And anyone will tell you, you have to mess around with the CAW. You can do anything to your character, especially with the included Paint Tool. But the highlight of the CAW is the Create-an-Entrance (CAE). You can adjust pyros, lights, camara angles, anamations, etc. This game must be sen to beleive, and played to discover. |

THE GOOD: Almost everything. They did a good job on the wrestlers. Also I just love the matches and computers. They pose a preatty hard thret.THE BAD: They didn't have all the superstars like Rosey, Scotty 2 Hotty, and all the mini ones like A-train. The only other thing I wish they had was a better story mode. Also if you wacth wrestleing now it dosen't have all the great moves or stuff. Also some colision detechtion in it. SUMMARY: Overall this game was a great thing. I alway play it with my friends. Also it's fun to pull of crazy stuff. In addtion it's create-a-superstar mode is great.I also suggest if you get it to try the TLC match at RAW.To my oppion the story should becoming a great superstar or getting the title. Just to say at first the game sucks but it really dosen't take to long. |

Wrestlemania: Big Improvement | 4.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: New wrestlers, matches, arenas, Create-A-Character and Revenge modeTHE BAD: 'Revenge' is nothing compared to standard story-modes SUMMARY: Wrestlemania XIX was a thrill on television, and the video game is almost nothing short of it. With new improvements in every direction, it's hard to see how anybody can diss the game without adding at least a few good comments.
Most noticeably is the super-accurate Create-A-Character system, which has been upgraded from the dull version of Wrestlemania X8.
Not only can you now determine an impressive variety of moves, clothing, and expressions (the features are individually selected, ex: eyes, nose, mouth, etc.), but you will also be able to create your character's own stage-entrance. You'll have access to not only the music and video of your choice, but also the individual sets of fireworks, lighting, and poses for your character.
Not to be overlooked is the impressive new line of pre-created and real-life grapplers. Newer characters such as Batista, Dawn Marie, and Randy Orton are to be seen, and each character is super-realistically animated, and holds their image throughout play.
There are but little flaws, graphically speaking. The moves, taunts, and facial expressions are carried out beautifully, and are about as life-like as they can be.
No new match types, however. Still, these have been upgraded as well. The Hell in a Cell, TLC, and Cage matches have become more manuverable and more realistic (the tables and ladders are still pushed around the ring at the lightest touch, sadly).
The only real complaint anybody can have is the somewhat-bogus Revenge mode.
Substituting the Story mode, the character you select is hired by Stephanie McMahon to make Wrestlemania a financial disaster for her father, VInce, by causing as much organized chaos as possible (sabotoging the commerical-line, destroying the titan-tron, etc.). Sounds like a lot of fun at first, but soon you'll realize that the 'goals' you are to achieve include only things like 'throw 15 employees from the rooftop' and 'reach the belt before your opponent does'.
You'll battle countless numbers of workers and security guards, and you'll never actually get to cause the heavy destruction you (as the gamer) wanted to.
Not that it's terribly 'un-fun', but it could have been a lot better.
***
In a final word, I have to say that Wrestlemania XIX deserves recognition, but still lives in the shadow of the notorious SmackDown! series. Let's just hope the Wrestlemania 20 is better. |

THE GOOD: Graphics,Blood,Create Modes,Training Modes, and MatchesTHE BAD: The story mode, waste of time, unless it's your
first time. SUMMARY: I got some more things to say about this game.
It doesn't have that much arenas.
Lots of them were left out like:
Survivor Series,No Mercy (Of course),Backlash,Unforgiven,Sunday Night Heat,Velocity,
No Way Out,and Vengence.I'm so tired of seing these
little bits of arenas. The other things that was some
matches like:6-man Tag,Battle Royal, Going backstage
in hardcore mode(like smackdown),Subsmission match,
Street Fight,I quit!match, etc. That's all we really need, they could've also added the elimination chamber,
because it came out last year, and Thq had alot of time to add it.This game is cool and all, but it's
just that wrestlemania is missing some things and wrestlers like A-Train,and Team Angle, also Create-A-Team.Jamie Noble and Nidia, and Jazz. Let's just hope
Wrestlemania 20 will be better next year! |

THE GOOD: Blood,Soft ups, create mode, and the matchsTHE BAD: The ignorant story mode,c'mon THQ you could've did
better on the story like Smackdown's SUMMARY: Well wrestlemania sure is better than wmX8 and
Raw 2, (They move so slow on there).
I just wish the "Real Story Mode" was in then we'll
be talkin.
But on top of all that you did a good job on the
graphics, create modes, the training modes the
backstages,matchs etc.
Wrestlemania 19 is one of the best wrestling games
out.
I just hope the next Wrestlemania (Part 20) is better.
THQ could just give the ring a spirit meter so
when it goes all the way down it will collapse, when
you slam people like Big Show from the top ropes.
and I hope it will have the real story mode in
the E.Chamber, more realistic like Smackdown here
comes the pain, and with more titles |

WWE=Great | 3.6 0 comments |

| Last year's Wrestlemania X8 was like a midcard draw compared to THQ's top-flight Nintendo 64 WWE contenders of old. Thankfully, XIX enters the ring with a host of improvements. The control setup hearkens back to the classics (like No Mercy), but with a larger selection of moves and a new emphasis on counters/reversals that allows for some rewarding comebacks. Plus, being able to attack specific body parts adds much-needed strategy, and speedy pacing nixes the drawn-out, boring matches that plague most wrasslin' games.
XIX also addresses its forerunner's biggest weakness: the painfully limited Create-a-Superstar mode. This year, the developers wisely offer detailed facial and body customization, allowing twisted gamers to design downright frightening wrestlers. Although the visuals aren't quite up to Raw 2 (Xbox) standards, the charactes and environments look impressive nonetheless.
Yet, the single-player modes hold XIX back from being the ultimate grappler. King of the Ring (where you vie for championship belts) is nothing more than a generic tournament setting devoid of story elements. And Revenge (in which battles take place at outside-the-ring venues) turns what's supposed to be a wrestling game into an irritating 3D beat-em up. Still, there are enough changes in this edition for me to label XIX the top GC wrestler to date. But it needs another year before the series reaches main event status.
I still think that this game should just improve on a bit more things. |
