"It's its stylishness that makes Beyond Oasis a hit. It's not a timeless classic, and it could have used a bit more polish in several areas, but it is a solid representation of 16-bit era action-RPGs. Does Beyond Oasis deserve to be mentioned alongside such classics as Secret of Mana? Sure! Check it out, genre fans, you'll be surprised."
" The dungeons feature a bit of puzzle solving and fighting, some more than others. Most of it is just key-hunting, finding which switch opens which door, lighting however many torches, stuff like that. While doing this, you fight re-spawning enemies. Sometimes these enemies drop items or weapons, and you may even be forced to clear a room of them to open a new pathway."
"The visuals look like they came straight out of a cartoon; the game sprites and backgrounds are very colorful indeed. The sprites are all nicely drawn and have smooth animation. I was surprised by the fluid animation of the introduction sequence. The game is played from a top down view where Ali remains at the center of the screen at all times unless he's moving to the edge of a map. It keeps the action nicely centered most of the time."
