THE GOOD: Plenty of levels to play throughTHE BAD: Gets boring after a while Colours are a bit too vibrant SUMMARY: I never owned this game but I borrowed it from a friend while he was borrowing Sonic 2 from me. I played it round his house first to see if I liked it. From what I remember you had to go around each level finding little yellow chicks and leading them to the exit. They’d follow you no matter where you went and the more you got in a chain the more points you would get. But there were also a couple of animals (one being a cat, no surprise there) that were patrolling around.
If you accidentally ran into one of these animals then you would lose a life. But if they managed to get at the chain of chicks behind you then the chain would break off at wherever it was intercepted and the chicks that were lost go back to wandering around the level aimlessly. There are objects you can throw at the animals to slow their progress.
This game is really a strategic platformer because you have to jump around many different levels while at the same time avoiding the animals to get as many chicks home in a chain to get high points scores. There are 30 levels if I remember rightly, although I don’t think I ever managed to get that far, level 22 or thereabouts was my best. The game does get harder as the levels go on because you need to rescue more chicks and the animals become more alert and go after you more often.
But I’m glad I borrowed this game rather than bought it because there isn’t a whole lot of replay value in it. Yes the levels get bigger and harder, but not by much. If there had been more animals or more options then it would have added to the game. As it is the game didn’t have terribly much in the way of replay value, even for a Mega Drive game. |
