THE GOOD: Nice 3D engine for its time Simple controlsTHE BAD: Sometimes a little repetitive SUMMARY: LHX Attack Chopper was made in 1991 by Electronic Arts and is a helicopter combat simulator, and was excellent for it's time. You control the LHX Attack Chopper, one of the most deadly helicopters in the world, and you undertake various missions where you must destroy enemy vehicles or satellite equipment. There are two helicopters you can choose from, these are the LHX Attack Chopper and the Apache. There are also 5 difficulty levels, ranging from very easy to very hard.
The game has great features, such as different camera variations, including missile view, whenever you fire a missile, you get the perspective of the missile heading towards the target. Another great feature is being able to choose how high or low you fly, and flying above a certain height has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of flying low are that you are immune to being intercepted by enemy fighter jets and you are also immune to SAM sites. The advantages of flying high is that you are immune to fire from ground vehicles and soldiers.
The missions can be very fun, and are set either during the day or at night. The missions include destroying important enemy equipment or vehicles. Your helicopter comes with three different types of ammo to fight against the enemy, these are chain gun, sidewinder missiles, and stingers missiles.
Overall, this is a fantastic game with great, especially for the time it was released, however it's very much dated by today's standards. |
