THE GOOD:
- Improved Graphics and attacks
- Also opened up the depth where the character can move up and down the screen rather than just a side scroll.
- The game features alternate endings depending on how well the player performed in the game.
- The power up feature is also quite nice and allows Rick to transform into a mutated version of himself.
- Improved AI, enemies can now block your attacks and counter with thier own

THE BAD:
- The last boss is too strong
- Spirits now take your weapons if you drop them.
- Some enemies have these cheap sliding attacks that knock you down that you rairly can dodge.
- If you knock an enemy off the screen their still their and you have to wait for them to come over to kill them before you can move on in the game which is very annoying.

SUMMARY:
This is probally the best game ever made for the Sega Mega Drive/Genisis console (with the exception for Sonic) splatterhouse was a pioneer to the survival horror genre that resident evil made so famous and stays true to that in an old school way.

Background

This game takes place after splatterhouse 2 (5 years after) you play as the main character Rick Taylor a parapsycholigist (who was killed in splatterhouse 1 but the terror mask brought him back to life and gave him superhuman abillities) who has married jennifer a fellow parapsychologist, and had a son named david, everything is perfect for them until one day when the evil one returned and is after Rick's family so you must put on the terror mask once more to defeat the evil one and save your family.

Gameplay

Enemies now spawn from seamingly anywhere and must be defeated before you can move on through each room of your mansion, also this game now gives you choice on which rooms and paths you will go through on your quest to save your family. some feature stronger enimies and others have weapons that will help you on your journey as well as bonus health or elderitch orb (power orbs) and even bonous lives. secret levels are also in this game where they become available if you complete a stage in well under the allowed time peroid, the secret stages are filled with stronger monsters but extra lives are much more common.

Features

- New weapons to help you defeat the many monsters in your way from returing favorites such as the 2x4 or meat cleaver or the the new kitchen knife and baseball bat.

- Enhanced AI enimies can now block attacks and gang up on you

- Power up ability, by cottecting power orbs you can transform into a mutated version of your self and dominate enemies with special attacks and improved strength.

All around the best game of this type for this time peroid. if you like a beat' em up button masher you will not be dissapointed this game is for you.
