THE GOOD: A very good FPS/RPG that combines the elements of both genres nicely.THE BAD: The action element is rather frowned upon. SUMMARY: Deus Ex is the greatest game on pc to date. Featuring some rather nice graphics, and some terrific gameplay, Deus Ex combines the two greatest elements in the pc market today. There a few problems, like for example the action element is rather frowned upon, because your a goverment agent, your ment to be secreative and stealthy. Another problem is the graphics. Though nice, the game jerks along at some times unplayable speeds due to the ammount of detail in the game. Of course, lowering the graphics can help, but the game loses some of it's shine then, and Deus Ex's major plus is it's shine. Another bad part of the game is the enemy AI. They are ment to act like real people, but sometimes act like stupid ass idiots that can't find the way through a door, which gets annoying at times when your trying to have an awesome gun battle.
But the game also has it's good points. Because the game is an RPG it has awesome ammounts of character development and you really get to know the people in the game. There is a slight problem of course, that the main character, you, JC Denton, has little to none charcter development. He talks of course, but not enough for you develop a feeling for him. He is like a stiff board, no emotion. After playing Final Fantsy VII I was expecting awesome things of Deus Ex, but let down some parts.
But the truth is, that Deus Ex doesn't shine as either an RPG or a FPS. It rather weak in both sections, but as a whole game, Deus Ex shines. It has great gameplay, sweet ass action and some excellent character development. I highly recommend this game as it features the best gameplay I have ever experienced. The only slight problem is that I love action, and Deus Ex's main attention was to create a game for the average gamer to enjoy... but I am not an average gamer.
If you enjoy great suspense, good action, a plot that has more twists than a pretsal, good graphics and a game that beats all other attempts, Deus Ex is for you. If not, I highly recommend that you look at this game anyway, as you'll enjoy it anyway. |
