Diddy Kong Racing

THE BAD:
Difficulty is a bit hard, but it only makes you want to play it more.

SUMMARY:
Okay , this is just one awesome game. Like Mario Kart 64, its really fun and hard to put down when you start playing it, because you get into it so much that its just impossible to leave alone. Thats a good thing since its always fun and proves to be excellent in every way possible. Although mostly directed to the younger crowd, its definitely not limited to them.

First of all, believe me when I say there are LOTS to do in this game. You can do all sorts of racing levels by starting out and driving/hovercrafting/flying over to selected areas and then entering a specific level that you want to. This makes the game soo much more fun and versatile because of the fact that there is no game like this at all. It totally gives you complete freedom in what you want to do at anytime, and its not a "select which stage you want to race and race it" type of gameplay. Other than that, the one player mode is basically flawless, even though the multiplayer type gameplay is just as good as anything else could be in this game. Last but not least, I can go on forever about how great this game is, but the fact remains that sometime, it gets a bit on the hard side.

Some of the levels are competitive (since you can race each level in any of 3 different vehicles of your choosing), but some of the bosses that you have to fight (namely, Wiz Pig) can literally be a pain in the ass from how hard it is. But its not that hard once you master a certain character, so then tis not that hard. After that though, you are enabled to go to an entirely new set of levels, which makes the game longer than you suspect it, because when you think its over, then you realize that you're just getting started.

All in all, its quite a wonderful game, in a nutshell. I really suggest that anyone who has a N64, get this NOW. You really wont be disappointed at all, because its just such a flawless game.

THE BAD:
Hovercraft
Slightly random character sounds

SUMMARY:
Lastability: 7/10.
Once you're done with the Adventure mode, all that's left is to unlock the 2 secret characters if you haven't already. If you have, there's always replaying some tracks in Tracks Mode, and beating your times again. Playing with your friends is also a good idea.
Graphics: 9/10.
For it's time, it's quite good. The game was very easy on the eyes, while showing some very good visuals.
Sound: 8/10.
Some of the sounds can be random (complaining when you get in front of whoever was in first place, or cheering that you're losing, wtf???), but other than that, it's all good.
Gameplay: 7/10.
For a Mario Kart rip-off (at least that's what I'm thinking it is), it plays quite well. The controls are responsive, the plane handles quite well and, well, I guess everything else is quite good. The hovercraft levels, though, aren't that great. It handles awkwardly, and can annoy you badly.
Overall: 3.8/5.0
Recommended if you like Mario Kart with non-Mario characters.

Lol, I was thinking of typing a review and then I slapped myself and said, "I forgot Diddy Kong Racing!" Well anyways, this game is pretty much perfection.

Compared to a lot of other crappy kart racers out there. People just don't get the damn point. Diddy Kong Racing was able to attract a lot of people and was one of the VERY FEW kart racers out there that got a good grade on a lot of websites.

You have OTHER karting games which are like....whoa....

Mario Kart was great and all but they REALLY are starting to overdo it. OKAY PEOPLE, YOU'RE MAKING THE FRIGGIN' 5TH MARIO KART ON THE DS. YOU CAN STOP IT NOW.

Crash Team Racing, manufique. Crash Nitro Kart, good, but it's sad compared to Crash Team Racing.

And back to Mario Kart, they are actually RUINING their whole series. The NES version was great! The N64 was great. The GBA sucked. It was the same exact thing. Double-Dash, at least they added more characters. 'Bout bloody time. But they ruined the FEEL. DS, oh boy. I can't wait. *rolls eyes*

Diddy Kong Racing is a very good kart racer and you'll find very few that are as good as THIS these days. Even though there's only 2 unlockable chracters, they are worth unlocking and it defintly takes awhile.

Fun game, good replay value, good sound, good graphics...

There's my long rant on how much crap is out there and how much Diddy Kong Racing is superior to all those games.

THE BAD:
The graphics are a little jerky.

SUMMARY:
Diddy Kong Racing features Diddy Kong and a handful of his pals from various other rareware games. It’s a cartoony racing game that you can race in cars, hovercrafts and planes and even race against a giant pig that runs and fly’s. There is much to do, especially story mode which is a lot of fun but there is also time trial and multi-player battles. Multi-player can go up to 4 player and it’s a head on head battle or a race just like Mario Kart. The graphics aren’t that great and can sometimes mess up the game a little because you don’t understand what is going on but that is usually on the main map of story mode. The music for the game is really good and changes to suit the mood of the level that you are in and the sound effects are good too.

Overall it’s a really great game for all ages but they should have stuck Mario in there.

THE BAD:
Frustrating bosses,some voice-overs are weird and finally i never even heard of some of these characters at all!ANNOYING GENIE!!

Hey people just doin'another retro reviewiddy Kong Racing.For its time this game was really good!The graphice were cartony but appropriate for this style of game and the audio was really good!The multiplayer is also good!U will play the level"Icycle Pyramid"for days!!But some of the bosses are frustrating and don't forget that annoying genie!!Overall for battle-racing fans this is a must own!If u like fun games then pick up this game it will probably be at a bargain price!

Diddy Konge Racing For The Nintendo 64 Is Better Then You Think It Is Jugeing By Its Forum. This game is action packed with levels characters and fun! This game is almost has good has Mario Kart 64! No Lie! You Can Race In The Following things!

Car: Sinks Easily In water but goes a bit faster then the others

Hover Craft: The Best Of The 3, You can hover over water road and umm, anything els. turning is bad though.

air Plane: The Slowest Of The 3 But The coolest! Fly Over Land And Water And Mountains and even a dinosaur!

Another thing I love about this game is the exelent graphics! They are wonderfull of a Nintendo 64 game! You can also be dazzeld by the wonderfull brightness in colors, you might need to wear sun glasses to play the game!

So all together, I really think that this is the game for you if you like racing games, go out and buy it now, (you might need to use Ebay)!

THE BAD:

SUMMARY:
Diddy Kong Racing came out years and years ago and was a big success. The game is about Diddy and his mates going racing *hint the title*.

This game when came out was a new look at racing car games. Never before had we seen a racing game designed for kiddies using made up charcaters. Now there is plenty more like in the mario series like Mario Kart Double Dash.

One thing about this game that is sooo good is that you dont just have to race but you also need to collect the silver coins around the course to proceed. There is 8 on each level and missing just one will result in failure. Also you need to always come first in the race second and thrid is no good you must come first.

I really liked the idea of actually firing missles at one and over. This is also new to racing games but was also added to Mario Kart 64. Hitting enimes is the key to winning. If yur missles miss the enemy it could lose you the race. There are speed signs on the floor that speed you up which also gives you an advantage over you opponents.

There is also a choice of 3 vehicles. Some veghicles can get to different islands and places and some are needed to enter a race. You start off with a Car and as you go through the game you can unlock a Hovercraft and a Aeroplane. Prety cool huh.

Graphics are pretty lame but as this game was made years ago i cant blame it but who needs really good graphics when the gameplay is so awesome. The sountrack is okay but gets repetative and got on my nerves quite abit as it goes over and over and over.

Having not played this game in years im having to remember most of this from the top of my head. Well i do remember playing this game for hours and still never managing to complete it.

Verdict

This is a really good game and in my opinion it is better than Mario Kart 64. When this game came out i would have probably givern the game in the 90% mark but now cos its old and all im having to give it a ...

76% cos it still in enjoyable

THE BAD:

SUMMARY:
this game is good to play for any die-hard racer. who can resist the games courses and multi-player mode with another mode if they have a N64 ?!? the game deserves a five but soem people might disagree and think it only deserves a 2. so i give it a 4.9 because of its overall fun-ablity (rotfl)! i hope some love to play this game as much as i do. when i first played, it was hook, line, and sinker for the rest and i was hooked at a *bleep*in blink !!!!!!!! this is the best game rareware has made yet fa sho(rotflmfao) !!!!!!!!!!!!!! some people may think its gay or old, but its still fun. and once youve played, youll know what i mean!

THE BAD:
Its not a very easy game at all. When you are trying to beat certain things, it can get quite frustrating. I still haven't unlocked the last level, or beat the game because of the toughness of a few things. Kinda sucks really because I want to play other new things.

SUMMARY:
Overall, this is a pretty good game. Kinda kidish but still very fun and quite addicting. A very well put together game. Should spawn some sequels one day on the GC. If you have a 64, go out and get this game. Its pretty cheap now.
