This game is really amusing. If you have ever played the arcade version of this game you will defentally like it on the good o' N64. The controll is pretty easy except for when it comes to choosing items, using items, and turning off item. Of course you use the control stick to move around and the A button to use your weapon but for choosing and item you use all 4 of the C buttons. And to activate/unactivate item you simply press the R button. The game is really fun. It has a nice story and it can be challenging, no, VERY CHALLENGING at some points in the game. You have to collect 13 RUNE STONES to beat the game. and also you need OBOLISKS to open all the worlds.

The story is about some legends(charecters) that is on a magical journey to stop the evil villian SKORN! A long time ago some guy released SKORN into the SUMMNERS tower and it is up to you to beat the evil sinister SKORN!!. If you are like me you always want to read the back of the box before you buy something....

THE GOOD:
Supports up to 4 players. Adds levels not in the arcade version. Almost arcade-perfect sounds. New power-ups and Legend Items.

THE BAD:
Some problems with pixelization in the graphics. New item-switching control scheme is too complex.

SUMMARY:
In the arcades, Gauntlet Legends was a game someone could easily put $20 into without realizing it, and Midway did a good job of bringing the addictive game home. It retains most of the arcade original, plus adds new levels that arcades didn't get before Dark Legacy came out. You can still play as the original 4 characters or their secret alter-egos. And if you're a skilled enough player, you can even unlock Sumner! The new Legend items add a new dimension to gameplay as well-find them and your job's a whole lot easier against the massive bosses!
Another significant change is that power-ups can be stored until later, rather than ne used right away. This is a great option but the control...

THE GOOD:
-playing with 3 of your buddies to stop skorne is great
lots of cool special items
-good graphics
-smooth even in 4-player
-four cool classes to choose from
-cool turbo attacks

THE BAD:
-1 player gets boring and dull
-1player also gets really hard
-some of the bosses are very hard ot beat

SUMMARY:
co-operation is a must for this game.Great for taking to parties.be warned:1 player is HARD
