Movie-game tie-ins are crap. This is not a fact, but is often treated as such by the majority of the gaming community. Who can blame them when the market gets filled with seemingly no end of rushed products pushed out the door just to cash-in on the latest big thing. Rareware turned this whole concept on its head when it developed a certain game that would become the standard many FPS games to follow would be measured against. It was one of those rare gems; a movie tie-in that was good. Nay, scratch that, a movie tie-in that was and still is amazing.
The ability to step into the shoes of that famous OO agent is an experience like no other, and it has not been done as well as it is here. The underlying plotline to the game is amazing as you start off taking out an enemy facility and then progress to travelling across the globe to stop a weapon satellite from blasting key targets on Earth. Of course, the basic plot is straight from the movie, but the way Rare have...
THE GOOD:
Challenging yet addicting and well executed first person shooting gameplay, objectives add a twist to the generic FPS games we see today, 3 different difficulty levels which adds to some replay value, really tight controls, mission location designs are all unique whilst being well designed to cater to objectives of the missions, visually pleasing to the eye, human groans sound excellent and realistic, realistic sound effects, pulse pounding soundtrack, multiplayer is well worth playing and adds more to the replay value and the replay value within this game is virtually endless! It's 007! The weaponry is very well done, the graphics for this game were good, the audio is pretty good, story line is well built, the difficulty is a good mix of easy and hard and the maps are well built. THE BAD: SUMMARY:
Of all the games I've played over the years, on all different kinds of systems, from the NES to the PS2, no game has left me with fonder memories than Rareware's first-person shooter GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10 ----------------- Single-Player Mode I've got a lot of ground to cover in this section, so I'll start off with the single-player mode. There are 18 regular missions, roughly following the plot of the James Bond movie the game is based off of, with three different difficulty modes (Agent, Secret Agent, 00 Agent) for each level. The Agent missions (the easiest difficulty) are naturally pretty simple; the AI reacts slowly to your presence, the objectives may be as simple as not killing any civilians or scientists as you traverse the stage from Point A to Point B, and it usually takes only one to two hits to kill an enemy (assuming you hit them in the chest or head; hitting them in the leg will merely disable them for a few...

THE GOOD:
Revolutionised the first-person shooter format. Presented James Bond to a new generation of younger fans. Superb mission design and layout. Well-paced. The first major James Bond release that started the tidal wave of success for 007 games. The multiplayer deathmatches. THE BAD: SUMMARY:
THE GOOD:
1. Lots of characters 2. Fully challenging 3. The introduction has four new characters when Aztec and Egyptian are cleared 4. Level 20 is awesome, actually more than some awe, it's full of awe! 5. When all 23 cheats are unlocked, you'll probably be playing the game for 6 more months! 6. Multiplayer mode 7. Large arsenal, variety of weapons 8. More violent reactions and entertainments than the TWINE 64 game 9. 007 mode featured when all 20 levels are beat on 00 Agent, can set enemy status! 10. Four files 11. With 007 mode and all this, this is like the only game with such features, they make you feel like you can reprogram the game your way 12. Good music 13. Has that 'all so special killer spy' feeling that TWINE doesn't have 14. The button activated code, known as Line Mode (no color, just white and some lines), is sweet! 15. Lots of gadgets/equipment 16. The graphics are fairly good 17. In the Runaway or the... Lowest Prices |
