THE GOOD: Many Wandering Options Alot like owning a real farm Real Life actions such as girlfriends, horseriding etc. Many Great events take place You can even get mail! Sell food you produce You can get add-ons to your house
SUMMARY: It's hard not to refer to a game that's completely lacking any sort of violence and wherein your main concerns are planting a farm, raising animals, and finding a wife as "quirky." But "charming" comes to mind in this case also.
Natsume's Harvest Moon 64 begins with your grandfather's wake. He's left you with a farm whose primary crops for the last few years have been weeds, large rocks, and tree stumps. You begin setting the ranch back on its feet by clearing the land and planting a modest staple of potatoes, radishes, and cabbage, but you have many tasks beyond this. You're going to need to acquire cows, sheep, and chickens if you're going to have anything to do over the long winter month (each season...
THE GOOD: Everything: the graphics, the story-line, the animals, the crops, ah.... (Drool.) the GreenHouse...., and the girls....
THE BAD: The choppy font, and the occasional case of evil chickens. (The chickens won't let you out. They gather in a such a way they block the door.)
SUMMARY: Harvest Moon 64 is everything you could ever hope for in a Farming/Dating/Ranching/Fishing Sim. The graphics are quite good, the gameplay and controls are excellent, and, although the animals are quite childish in their appearance, the game is still quite difficult. Tons of things to learn here, and still many new techniques to be taught to the Harvest Moon veteran. The Festivals are quite interesting and challenging, but not being able to water your crops or feed your animals on that day is a bummer. The Power Berries will turn out to be very useful, especially the Blue Anti-Rain Berry. The tools can upgrade, which is a nice touch, and you can get to be...
THE GOOD: Very deep, with lots of things that can be done. From creating the ultimate farm to racing horses, it has it all. The music is great and it is a very hard game to put down.
THE BAD: Days are a little short, unless you played the first one it may be confusing. It is a rare game and is hard to find. You either love the game or hate it.
SUMMARY: You start out by taking over your grandpas run down farm after he dies. From there you can do just about anything you want. But the thing you are most likely to do after exploring the town would start a crop. Then from here you can do just about whatever you want. -Grow crops -Raise animals -Get married -Race your horse and dog -Build up your house -Collect flowers and fruit -And even get drunk on New Years eve and wake up the next day, without remembering a thing.
Watching someone play this game is not a good representation of the game. I suggest...
THE GOOD: A very fun game, very unique. A farming sims game. You can get married, have children, raise animals, basically build a life on the farm. Very good game.
THE BAD: A few grammatical errors here and there (Popuri calls your wife a he in one case, lol!), blocky text *Sigh* And goddamned evil chickens.
SUMMARY: A very original farming type sims game. You have a set amount of time (About two and a half years) to turn your Grandpa's rundown old farm into a profitable estate. During these two years you can make friends with the locals, maybe marry one of the eligible bachelorettes, raise a family and animals, grow crops, and a variety of other things. The game goes on after your two and a half years are up, and you can play for an eternity after. ...
This is truly a great game. Once you get past all of the screw ups (damn deadline?) you can have fun for hours. The game name ends. Sure there's credits but you can go on and on until you die. Keep in mind you character won't die just you. I'm currently in my 187th year, and the game still isn't boring. I simply love it. (If you really want a challenge in this game, try to make you living without ever growing crops. It can be done.) You can horse race, dog race, take part in the festivities. Also if it ever gets boring just sell all your animals and chop down you plants and stuff. Then spend your money on things that you don't need. Like gifts and food and flowers. It is always new because the weather is unpredictable, save the television. If you need help check out my guide (coming soon).
THE GOOD: Its NOT a shoot 'em up game (war, guns, blood, etc.)
THE BAD: Your wife says practially the same things every day, "I think I'll clean up in here. A messy room dampens the spirit." or "Today's a good day for hanging laundry." it gets boring...
SUMMARY: This game is of great graphics and is very realistic. It is very enjoyable to play and to watch. I have a copy myself and I am totally addicted to it. I think those who are sick of Shoot 'em up games should try this one- its one-of-a-kind!!
THE GOOD: •Many Wandering Options •Alot like owning a real farm •Real Life actions such as girlfriends, horseriding etc. •Many Great events take place •You can even get mail! •Sell food you produce •You can get add-ons to your house
THE BAD: •Nothing really.. i think its perfect.
SUMMARY: I think this game is for all to play, so many great festivals to go to, you even get mail! I cant think of a better Simulation/RPG then this... when i say that, i mean simulation and rpg better then this.. not just them alone, anyway.. If you have a console that sells products of these games, i highly recommend you get them, they are so fun and very entertaining, you can get add-ons to your house, sell you produce from the farm.. shall i go on? i do not think so, i want you to find out foryourself.. enjoy!
THE GOOD: This game is one of the best games I have ever played. There is to many good things to write but here are a few. The charecters, the charecters are awesome in this game! they each have such a personality. There are so many events that this game never gets boring something new is always happening. The story line is great. I love how everything you do has a reaction whether it be not visiting the horse farm to throwing a berry in a pond.
THE BAD: The music gets very annoying after awhile. The graphics arent great either but hey it is nintendo 64. You should be allowed to have more than 1 horse.
SUMMARY: THis game is basicly about a guy tha takes over his dead grandfathers farm. when you first get the farm its old and run down bu tyou can build it up and make it cool over time. You can chose a wife from 5 diffrent girls eventually if you treat her right you will get a cild but its not that easy. You can have 4 sheep, 4...
THE GOOD: I couldn't take my eyes off this game and I still can't
SUMMARY: This game has excellent graphics and it is educational at the same time. i Really didn't want to see cows and chickens get hit with a sickle. Though it may seem boring it is quite exceptional.
THE GOOD: Depth of Characters, Storyline. Plethora of activities and festivals.
THE BAD: The baby never grows up. Wife does not do a whole lot after marriage.
SUMMARY: Looking back, this is a great game. By far one of the best that the N64 has to offer. Whether you're into FPS to Strategic games, you should enjoy this change of pace. Harvest Moon games assimilate all that comes with working on a farm, to making and keeping relationships with people, to enjoying what life has to offer. With great cutscenes, festivals that are surprisingly fun, and plenty of jobs and various things to do, this is the best Harvest Moon game in the series, bar-none.
If for some reason you don't have an N64, but really want to play the best of HM, you can play Harvest Moon: Magical Melody for the Nintendo Gamecube. It is the closest thing to the N64 version.
