THE GOOD: Time Trial Mode- There is A LOT more to this game than meets the eye- Learn to do turbo turns and then you have found the real game.
THE BAD: Nothing inparticular
SUMMARY: You have to play this with someone who knows what theyre doing to find the real game. Turbo turns are not described in the manual but they are the entire point to the game. Racing your own ghost and slicing fractions of seconds off your record is what its all about. Other modes are fine but in my opinion the equivalent of sub games. Those who site the mirror mode as a positive point are missing the point and have probably never worked out the true game.
THE GOOD: Fun racing system, multiplayer racing makes this game potentially the best racing game ever created, fun weapons and items to use against your opponent and/or yourself, lots of characters to choose from.
THE BAD: Literally, nothing.
SUMMARY: Mario Kart 64, I must say, is basically the best 'fun' racing game ever created. First of all, there are some characters to choose to race with, from Mario and Luigi, to Bowser and Wario. This is very fun because of the fact that you are advaliable to play with whoever your favorite Nintendo character (although there aren't EVERY Nintendo character) in it, and beat the crap out of anyone who you're racing against. There are also lots of fun weapons and items to use such as Mushrooms which are used as boosts, red/blue/green shells that are used as rockets or missles, banannas which are used as distractions for if your opponent hits them, etc.
So basically, there really isnt any reason that...
THE GOOD: Fun, even single-player mode is quite cool, and multiplayer mode PWNS
Lots of race tracks
Creative race tracks
Alot of cool Mario characters to choose from
Cool items (some funny ones, too)
Good voices and some funny quotes here and there
THE BAD: A couple of the characters from the original Mario Kart were removed
So were one or two of the items from the original Mario Kart
Not much to unlock
SUMMARY: Well, to put it simply, this may just be a racing game, Mario style, but it's definitely a fun racing game, and for some reason, is more fun than most racing games considering it has Mario characters. The fact that there's not much to unlock is the only real major complaint I have about this game, but even with that, it's still an excellent game. No question about it.
THE GOOD: Lots of fun charecters, high speed racing, lots of weapons
THE BAD: Few levels, few arenas, perhaps this game could've had a little more charecters in em.
SUMMARY: This game is great the races are really fun and ltos of fun levels. The levels are high speed too and it's also fun to attack other racers.
Graphics are alright. I am much more oriented with the horidon segments in this game because of the 3D planes.
Sound is great. I like the sound track of this game.
Gameplay is great. It's easy to get oriented with the track unlike the past one where pixils just fly toward you. The charecters are pretty funny and the races are great at 150CC.
SUMMARY: Multi-player is fun, but has it's flaws. The items play a too important role in the game, especially in versus mode. I'd prefer a multiplayer mode like Super Mario Kart, where both racing skills and Items selection are important, unlike Mario Kart 64's system. The GP mode has also some weaknesses. It's too easy to finish, despite some weird computer AI. But the time trial mode is absolute perfection. You can keep improving your times even after having played the game for several years.
THE GOOD: - Pick which ever racer you want to be - Several tracks to race at - Up to 4 players
THE BAD: - Koopa Troopa is not a playable character
SUMMARY: Mario Kart 64 takes racing game to a whole new level, with it's insane fantasy, still keeping it one of the best games ever.
Out of 8 characters, you can pick your favorite Mario Brother character to race. Although I am a bit dissappointed that Koopa Troopa is not a chooseable character, you can still pick between the other ones. And after picking your character, you can choose between 3 tournaments that offer 4 races in each tournament.
One of the best things to do in this game, is to play with someone else. The fun of playing up to 3 other friends makes the game a challenge, but a fun one.
You should pretty much know what to expect from this game, as it is a Mario Brothers game. The Mario generation lives on with it's classical and superiour taste, that are sure...
Game Play Score: 10 This is one of the funnest games I have ever played on the N64. It's great because of it's 4 player modes such as batte and race. Even if your short a person you can do 3 player modes without computers! This game is great. Also you will have the option of doing a 1-player and/or 2-player Grand Prix. It will send you through 4 different classes, with 4 different cups in them. The first, 50cc, is the one for beginners. It will allow you to pass cars very easily making you win all the races easily. The second in 100cc, which is come competitious. The opponent's will stay on your back at almost all times, so be careful! In 150cc, you'll be at the car's top performance. With character's such as Yoshi, you will reach speeds of up to 60km/ph going down straightaways. In the last option, "Extra" you will be put in 150cc engine's, but it will give you a twist and make you run around the tracks backwards instread of the usual forwards. It isn't...
