THE GOOD:Lots of minigames. You can play as any of 6 famous characters. Story mode for 1 player. Improves on the first MP's control problems.
THE BAD:
Story mode is rather difficult. Some of the minigames are either too easy or too hard.
SUMMARY:
I didn't play the first game in the series, so MP2 was my starting point. The game plays out on a series of board games, with a minigame after every turn. A lot of them are fun activities like racing, bumper cars, and other Nintendo-themed challenges. The big part of the story, though, is the Mini-Game Coaster, a 1-player ride where you must meet a certain challenge in every game to advance all the way through. It's both fun and frustrating.
The graphics are good and controls are quite responsive, often using only 1 or 2 buttons. You can adjust difficulty settings for each individual CPU opponent, and even handicap human players to give your little brother or sister a chance against you! Other options include game length and which minigames appear. The games are chosen at random, so occasionally they'll repeat, which is a little annoying.
Also, while you can play the main board games alone, it's just not as fun as doing it with 2 or 3 friends. Bottom line is it's a big improvement over the first title, and while not as good as MP3 it's still a great way to get friends together for a party. Just make sure they bring the chips & drinks.
