Dragon Warrior

THE GOOD:
Incorporates many, many elements that will be used in future RPGs, such as statistics, turn based battles, inns, shops, dungeons and the need to talk to many townspeople to know what to do next; Visuals and Soundtrack, as simple as they seem, are very appealing to the senses; Cheesy middle ages dialogue; Plays pretty well for what it offers to the table...

THE BAD:
...although it feels like a total grind fest; soundtrack gets repetitive.

Introduction:
As one of the titles I never played as a kid, I could never feel any sense of nostalgia for Dragon Warrior. I actually only got this game in 2008 and played through it, expecting some state of the art stuff! What I got out of it was... Well, it was state of the art for 1986, but unfortunately, when compared to Square's Final Fantasy which was released 4 years later, it is nothing more than just the very first installment of a series of handbooks known as...

THE GOOD:
The challenge, easy and basic battle system, and easy to get lost which makes you have to go exploring.

THE BAD:
The controls were mildly clunky.

SUMMARY:
This was the first RPG, and still quite possibly one of the best. (This series has never lost it's spark ever since Dragon Warrior1 came out.) The game has challenging battles, tons of exploring, and expensive weapons making you decide what would be best to purchase before proceeding or make things easier to continue to collect Gold for weapons with more ease.
This is a true RPG. This is how RPGs should be. They should be similar to the Dragon Warrior series in relation to exploring and challenge. If you claim to be an RPG fan, look into this game, to see were RPGs first began.
Oh, yeah. We can't forget the DragonLord. I love this guy. He's the villain and you don't meet him face to face until the end. I just love his goofy little lines. WHOOSH!!!!!!!
