General/Summary: After the huge success of Battlefield 1942, the expansion pack was soon on the cards and here we are, covering the battles in Italy! New weapons, new sides, new maps, what could go wrong? plenty! When you consider that you can download the magnificent Desert Combat for free, if you are putting your hand in your pocket, then you expectations are raised!
Gameplay: You could be forgiven for thinking that it would be new game types here, but no, it carries on the formula of the original, nothing new here, but of course the maps and weapons. Are they any good? In short, no. The new maps are not a patch on the original, they feel cramped and rushed. Some are a long walk and then you die, some are big, but have all the action stuck in a corner (if you have played it, you know where I mean!) The new tanks and aircraft are weak stuff when you consider that very few of the vehicles from the original game make an appearance, it feels like the war in the twighlight zone, ww2 without panzers or shermans etc. French with British Sten gun and British with American Thompson etc! go figure! (how about Russian weapons for the yanks?)

Graphics: If you liked the look of the first, then nothing new to report here! If you find BF1942 chuggy, then look at your ram and graphics card to improve the situation. I put my hand in my pocket and got a mid range ti4200 replacing a Geforce2 and it was a massive difference!

Sound: No new tweaks to be found here, sound is functional at best. Like its predecesor, a battle soundtrack would not go amiss!
