"If you’re an accomplished chess player looking for serious tournament preparation software, something like Fritz 6 may be more appropriate. However, for the vast majority of folks who just want a mass-market chess program with all the bells and whistles, you can’t go wrong with Chessmaster 7000."

"Wonderful levels of challenge, suited to all skill levels from beginner to grandmaster. You may play a casual game or rank yourself in tournament mode. The menu system has gotten more user-friendly. Moving pieces on the 3D boards is still imprecise, but overhead modes function perfectly. Not necessarily worth an upgrade from Chessmaster 6000, but well worth purchasing otherwise."

"Though not a big improvement upon its predecessor, Chessmaster 7000 is an exquisite chess game."

"All in all, Chessmaster 7000, although it is mostly an upgrade of CM6000, is a worthy successor to its predecessors, and will undoubtedly keep its place as the best-selling chess program. Some bugs have been reported on the chess forums, but I haven't observed any serious bugs myself, and most should be corrected."

"Chessmaster 7000 has got lots for every level of player, including the option to play online. However you may even find that you prefer Chessmaster 6000's interface to this update."
