THE GOOD: Graphics are adequate, nothing to drool about.THE BAD: Gameplay and audio. SUMMARY: First of all, this is a sneaker wannabe. Nothing wrong with that except, I was looking at the EVS (radar/map thingy) 99% of the time. Is this suppose to be fun? Sure as hell wasn't for me! Sentries are alerted when you either enter the hearing radius as indicated on the radar screen, or when their line of sight is upon you, distance also indicated on the radar screen.
Secondly, the voices within the game were pretty awful. One voice actor was probably used for 80% of the game voice, and he ain't so good at masking that fact. The dialogue is even worse. The music was irritating. The sound levels were crap - meaning it's hard to hear footsteps when the surrounding environment is deafeningly loud, not to mention freakin' irritating.
Character control is also flawed/irritating. Kate Hawk is just too damn sluggish. Whether it's using ladders, switching weapons, running or strafing. When you're using stealth, you want speed - period. The inventory system is also a pain to use (imagine running through a corridor then pressing 'I' to access the inventory, then using the '>' or '<' to scroll to the item you want to use then pressing 'E' to use it while a sentry is approaching. Not to mention that everytime this is done, the camera switches to a side view to show you using the stupid key card, and K.Hawk saying something stupid like "That's good" or something like that! Idiotic! Enemies are hard to kill too! I swore I used the sniper rifle at close range at aimed at the enemies head, and WTF, he's still alive and running for help! Ugh!!
There's another game published by JoWood called 'Archangel'. It's similar to K-Hawk but the gameplay is better. Control is also a little sluggish, and dialogue is also pretty lame, but in the end it's all about the gameplay. Two thumbs down for K-Hawk!!! |
