THE GOOD:
The game is based on the Lord of the Rings... 'Nuff said.
The game has nice graphics for it's earlier time.
It features many races from the Lord of the Rings books.

THE BAD:
The game severely lacks depth, having few useful units and low AI capabilities.
The music was badly cut up. It was not performed by the original band.

SUMMARY:
This game ranks merely average in my book. You play as a "General" commanding an army of Elves, Humans, Dwarfs, Ents and Hobbits, or a horde of Orcs, Goblins, Trolls and Uruk-Hai. Some, but not all, of the characters from the movies make appearances here, including Legolas, Gimli, Aragorn and Gandalf. In typical strategy game fashion, you start with only one basic building and the urgent need to build more structures to make more advanced units. This is accomplished in normal fashion: Build with your little peasant people. However, the AI falls here. They will produce buildings at a much...

THE GOOD:
Pretty fun for a while, and you can play the Orcs.

THE BAD:
Dwarves are bad looking, ain't too fun.

SUMMARY:
The game isn't as bad as everyone says. You get to play as Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and the Orcs. So you can be evil, but the RTS part isn't that great. You just build and destroy, and destroying is really easy. I mean really easy! Unlike other RTS games where they can counter your assault, this one just lets you pummel through. Has really no connection to the books, and the Heroes, don't look like they do. They all look different. They do get Fate Powers though, abilities and such. Which is nice, who doesn't want to summon Balrog in the Orc Side? Since you can't rent, I suggest borrowing or buy it for a cheap price. Not worth 20 dollars or more. It gets the 3 out of 5.

THE GOOD:
It's all about strategy and i'm a LOTR fan anyway!

THE BAD:
Pity the Balrog and the Gaint Ent doesn't stay forever and
The game just ends abruptly after finishing all the champaings.

SUMMARY:
After purchasing LOTR Fellowship of The Ring and Return Of The King, this is just to perfect. But my favourite is summoning the Gaint Ent or The Balrog, really usefull at critical times <ahem>. But anyway the game is based on the book as you all noticed. The maps of course are quite ok but some of them are just leaving an enemy to enter your base.Anyway,i find no critical problems with this game. But so far for those starters i recommend starting from easy and then climbing up to Medium and eventually the almost immpossible to win unless you're really good,Hard. The sountracks are also really cool. For those guys who play Command and Conquer Generals and it's expansion Zero:Hour, this game would bring both LOTR:WOTR ang C&C Generals really...
