THE GOOD: + Quests + Team work + Skills + Lots of things to do
THE BAD: - Everything revolves around Nexon Cash. - Cash Shop items expire. - Grinding. - Community. - Support. - Nexon Cash Charging. - Too many hackers.
SUMMARY: Much more bad than good, as you can see.. Oh well, I'll just start with the good.
+ Quests Elaboration! There are a ton of quests, while most of them are a bit hard and require parties, I still think that it is fun to try to finish a quest (especially the event ones) because it's like a treasure hunt. You have to go find what the mafia- I mean, err, NPCs, want. Once you do that, you'll get a nice reward. Sometimes the reward isn't worth it, but you get an even bigger award than what you see! You get the feeling of accomplishment. And that's enough, isn't it? No, not really, but if they made NPCs rich they would get assassinated, now wouldn't...
THE GOOD: -Fun, quirky, unique. -Graphics and music are amazing -The game is massive, nearly no end to it -Constantly updated -Tonnes of different job strings to choose from
THE BAD: -After level 50 leveling up becomes tedious -The global version of MapleStory is overpowered (Other versions such as the south-east Asia version and the European version have adopted this as well) -Cash shop items are expensive and expire 90 days after purchase (45 days on MapleSEA but clothing items on the original Korean version don't expire) -Community on most versions sucks
SUMMARY: Note: Classes/Locations etc. are wrote in the name order: Original name from KMS/Global MapleStory name
Ok, so how to start this review... started playing MapleStory around a year ago, got to level 7 then pressed the quit game button and didn't go on it for another month, anyway, I started playing again and found much potential from...
THE GOOD: + It keeps you coming back + Party quests allow you to play with your friends + Guilds allow you to have guild quests + There are bosses which you can take down + There are 4 classes (Magician, Thief, Bowman, Warrior) + Each of the Classes branch out to two or three more individual classes + There are job advancements (level 10, 30, 70, 120) and each brings new skills, Armour, and friends + when you die you only lose Exp, Not your hard earned items + There are monsters to mount where you can move faster
THE BAD: - The game is 2D - It is really Easy to hack - Game Masters were inactive for the first half of the game, but are starting to get a bit better (Hacking has been resolved a tiny bit) - The Games idea isn't spread out enough once you are high level - The games Armour looks really bad, almost forcing you to buy NX Cash - Nexon unfairly sells double Experience coupons for...
THE GOOD: - A fun online RPG; play by yourself, with friends, or random strangers on the internet - Start as a beginner, and train yourself to become one of 4 different job classes (Mage at lv8, Warrior at lv10, Bowman at lv10, Theif at lv10); each class then has further classes to become at lv30, lv70, and lv120. Each is very unique, and will offer very different gameplay based on who you choose to become - Hundreds of levels/maps to fight on - Hundreds of different enemies to fight, ranging from very week to crazy strong - Many clothing/armor and weapon choices for each character class - Nice kiddy graphics (very colorful); lots of different sights to see; good music and sounds - Create 3 different characters per account - A few different continents and many towns to visit; buy armors and weapons, meet various people, start various quests, and much more - A good sense of accomplishment when you buy new armors and weapons, gain...
THE GOOD: Great Game Almost Hacker-Proof Replay Value because of so many classes and the Second and Third jobs are fun. Unique classes with great skills.
THE BAD: A little Repetitive Some Hackers Laggy in Channel One Report system still needs a little more work.
SUMMARY: Maple Story is a Korean 2D side-scrolling MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). It has incredible detail and this is my review for this great game I've played.
You start at Victoria island, with 5 small towns Lith Harbor, Henesys the Bowman town which has become renowned for Mushmom and Henesys Party Quest(Level 10-200). The next city is Perion the warrior city and it's well known for being rocky and of course Guild Party Quest. Kerning City is Thief central and it shows gangster style things.ex: graffiti. It is also the home of the famous Kerning Party Quest. Finally there's Ellinia the magician city which is...
THE GOOD: Graphics Sound Replay Value, 10 different second jobs to chose from Diversity of all classes
THE BAD: Repetitive Too many hackers GMs at the moment, but improving.
SUMMARY: The background graphics and music are great on the eyes and ears. Some of the users are friendly, but some are just idiots.
You start on maple island, a lowly beginner with three skills, that you can't even use yet. A friendly NPC tells you the controls and how the game works to an extent. Almost all beginners look the same, but as soon as you hit level 20+, everything changes.
There are 4 classes, Warriors, Bowmen, Rogues (Thieves) and Mages. Unlike most games, you start as nothing. At level 8 or 10 you can become a job, which is when the fun starts. At level 30 you can branch out of your job, and then level 70 advance further into whatever job you chose.
THE GOOD: The graphics are good and thats about it. The sounds are ok but it gets very tiresome after a while of listening to the same music over and over. Even when it does change you really stop noticing it and just tune it out.
THE BAD: The game is mismanaged and poorly run. Kill stealing is rampant along with stealing of items accidently dropped. There are frequent outages and not being able to connect. The translation of the story line is horrible all you do is run around and talk with NPCs who want you to bring stuff to them. It really doesn't have a linear storyline. chat channels get spammed and no game master is there to stop it and continues on for hours. Administration really doesn't care about abuse reports and only lets you report one abusive user a day. Even though there are so many, you can only report one a day. I could see not allowing you to report the same user in the same day but they will only allow you to report one instance of abuse...
THE GOOD: Features a huge range of monsters to fight. Amazing skills to learn, with many, many paths to follow through different Jobs, which spilt into even more specialisations. Unique playing style very similar to Mario games, beefed up to a world contending level. The best free choice instead of World of Warcraft
THE BAD: Fighting is really the only option availabe and leveling can be very slow but the game does pick up later and and turns out well
SUMMARY: If you like fighting games and you have a good quality internet connection, then this is the game for you. You have to possess great patients though as the game takes a long time to level, roughly level for level with World of Warcraft. The spells at high levelsa re very illustrated and the audio quality is awesome. If you have to choose between Maple Story and games like Runescape and Neopets.. go Maple. If you got money its a real tie between the great visual quality of WoW (which...
Decent game. It is a very simple game, however. Imagine classic Mario, with lots of power up and the ability to level up. Like any other RPG game, you kill to gain experience, gain experience to level up, level up to advance "classes". Advancing in classes just basically means becoming specialized in one type of fighting. There are four types, which have sub-classes in them: Warrior(melee), Thief (throws stars and uses daggers), Magicians (uses offensive and defensive spells), Bowman (shoots bows and bolts). Fighter can advance into three classes, Spearman, Figher, and Pages, which advances into even further specialized classes as you level on, but I won't get into it. Thiefs advance into either Bandits that use close range weapons such as daggers, or Assassins that throw stars and such. Mages advance into three classes, ice/electric, fire/poison, and clerics. The first two are self explainatory. Clerics mostly are supportive and heal. You can choose to "party" with...
Lots of accessories, outfits, and abilities to choose from.
THE BAD: Lack of content.
Lack of any story elements.
Slow stat building that yields results not worth the means.
SUMMARY: Right from the start when you launch Maple Story, you feel the friendly atmosphere. The cute visuals resemble that of a children's story book (it struck a bit of nostalgia for me). The music is soft and pleasant, and the interface is simple and inviting. You know that this is going to be an enjoyable experience free of blood, sex, and narcotics.
And it's exactly what you get. However that's not to say that Maple Story is a childish endeavor for that "for all ages" category, far from it. Maple Story creates an excellent world full of cute characters, whimsical environments, and interesting creatures.
