Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance

THE GOOD:
Lots of mechs, great customizing options and fun gameplay

THE BAD:
Online play is a bit lacking.

SUMMARY:
The year is 3063. The Clan invasion has ended. You return to your home world a hero, only to face chaos. Your family has been murdered, your throne seized and now your planet is in the throes of civil war. This is the outline of the story your faced with and while the story may not be great that's not why you will like this game.

Gameplay is why you will like this game. With over 20 mechs at your disposal you can select the right mech for your style. Then there is customizing your mechs which is not only fun and interesting but vital in the gameplay. Arming your mech with some PPC's and Guage Rifles can quickly gain you respect on the battlefield. However better be careful because with that respect makes you a target. You can customize everything from weapons to the color of your mech.

Online play can be very fun...

THE GOOD:

video transmissions are overdated and too insignificant

SUMMARY:
Just to give you a sense of how boring this game is, I bought this game in the summer of 2002 and only just finished playing it now because after a couple of missions i was so pissed at its sluggishness that i dind't play it for a long time and just finished it now. The missions are boring as well as easy. Seems like its always the same thing: blow up enemy supplies, sabotage enemy communications and blow up whatever moves (not that the latter is boring Multiplayer though is exciting when playing against real people on the internet. THE GOOD:
Cool modifications allowed for your mechs,graphics are top notch,quite nice sound and music and COOL intro.

THE BAD:
compared to MW3, it has some better things than MW3 but also some worse things.MW4 is way better in the graphics but MW3 didnt get as boring as MW4.

SUMMARY:
But hey, with all these new MW games like vengeance,black knight etc,it can keep our hands quite busy for a while.overall, i rate it very good.

THE GOOD:
The awesome graphics and the variety of mechs, with weapons that can totally bring the house down.

THE BAD:
Unfortunately, the game can totally cloud your mind, as it is actually quite a lame one. Gets boring after a while.

SUMMARY:
Overall, this game is okay. They could have included some 'meat' into the game, and this game would be perfect. You are Ian Dresari, out to relaim the throne of your father as well as to have revenge on all those who wiped out your whole family. Quite touching storyline, isn't it? Do not be fooled. Buy this game only if you're a MechWarrior fanatic.

THE GOOD:
EVERYTHING!!! The graphics are amazing, the sound is super realistic, and all that crud about the Voodoo3 card-it's a bunch of @%&*! Great Game

THE BAD:
NOTHING! ok, it may get a little slow at times, but that's only if you have like a 100Mh processor or like a Pentium 1.

SUMMARY:
A great game. In my opinon, it could be $50.00 and I would buy it; for only $29.99, it's a steal! BUY THE GAME, YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE GOOD:
excellent graphics(when it works) excellent weapons and mech choices. good variety of missions, and enemy AI. Especially the different endings.

THE BAD:
The game lags, SERIOUSLY! It never worked right on my computer after i beat it. And its too short and too easy. on the 2nd mission with the dropships that i had to destroy i got to the end killed everybody on the lvl and waited for the last dropship to leave after i destroyed the other ones and finally "Sir Peter" shoots it down with his pulse lasers!Too easy!

SUMMARY:
The game is pretty awesome. on the totallyawesomegame-o-meter it scores a 8.7. It scores this because it really lags on the frames department, i mean it LAGS! Unless of course you trick out your computer, which i have finally done, then it worked, but for the majority of users of computers they won't be able to run this game at the max. And it also lacks in the difficulty department. But i do say Get it!

THE GOOD:
The graphics and sounds! The internet gaming is exciting!

THE BAD:
The people who do not know how to run a MechWarrior very good on internet games!

SUMMARY:
I like it better then MW3! I graphics are outstanding!
The sound will knock you out of your chair! You kill stuff from a walking tank! - What more do you want?
Just wait till you get the expansion (MW4: Black Knight)! When you get you get more MechWarriors and more action! It runs smooth with Windows ME!

I see lots of negative reviews about this, but as someone who's not familiar with MW in general, let me say that I was shocked at how much fun and addictive this game is. I really wasn't sure I should take the risk of dropping $30 on a genre I wasn't familiar with. I'm glad I did. Not only are the graphics stunning (I have a 64-Mb ATI Radeon GPU with an AMD 1800+ CPU), the game play is (pardon the pun) a real blast. And I sure don't agree with the controller complaints... my Saitek X45 is a beaut with this game. I love flight sims and strategy games best, but this has instantly become one of my all-time favorites. Perhaps in comparison to earlier versions, it is lacking or has some apparent flaws. But let's get serious: why should a game be identical to a book, or even to its own predecessors? Hollywood doesn't do that either, yet people...

THE GOOD:
excellent gameplay and a very worthy succesor to Mw3.the mechs are much more realistic compared to in mw3, As in the slots are configurable in the way they should be you shouldnt be able to put whatever you want on your mech especially when its inner sphere( you have to remember that you arent fighting the clans anymore you are fighting other inner sphere troops) And the graphics are Breathtaking when you have a 3d prophet 4500.Plus the story was much better than in mw3 Especially if you are a fan of the battletech novels.
