I remember waiting with baited breath for the release of Dungeon Siege. Next to Freedom Force, this game is the only PC game in the first half of the year that really got me excited. So was I disappointed or did the game meet my standards? Well, this game has actually confused me as the awe inspiring graphics and sound keep me playing while the gameplay is so mindless that I'm not really playing anything. In order to add a bit of structure and explain my feelings, I'll explain my raves and rants in the following areas; Gameplay, Story, Graphics, Sound, and an all-inclusive Other category.
Gameplay (6/10): Of all the areas of Dungeon Siege the gameplay contains the most rants. Firstly, the game has all the complexity of Solitaire. Everything, and I do mean everything, is automated to the point where user interaction is minimal. Seriously, you click to attack, you click to move, you click to open items. That's about it. One click does it all. The automated battle stances and...
THE GOOD: you can get lots of people and lots items u can use but the one thing that sticks out about this game is that there are so many things u can use in this game that its mind boggling
THE BAD: graphics and its to easy on easy to hard on hard puls it has bad ai and lots of lag but the music in this game is worse the a nes or sega
SUMMARY: like i said bad graphics and lots of lag but it is fun and it does give you a lot of options to play with on the charaters and the could use better music it must be one of microsofts low buget games but for people how like this game dont take what i just said bad and for people how havent played it yet buy it paly it if dont like the sale it to a game store and for now i say goood bye to you all little ones till next time
THE GOOD: Everything about it is good. The story seems well developed and the fighting is intense. It's got a easy interface that allows you to quickly do things, if its switching spells, or weapons or what weapon or spell you want to use. It all comes easy. Anyone who ha played a hack and slash game before should be familiar with it. One of the most interesting things for me is that you can get a party. And a donkey. Yes yes, a donkey. He can carry equipment for you, and a lot of equipment at that.
SUMMARY: This game deserves to have gone bigger than it did. I don't see how people just passed over it and didn't buy the game. It competes with all other RPG/Adventure titles out there. Its wonderful that you can customize your character completley and make him especially good in one area. Its a must have for any gamer, wheather you play the RPG games or not.
THE GOOD: good graphics, runs smoothly, absolutly NO load screens.
THE BAD: its very very linear, theres only one way to go.
SUMMARY: The first thing you notice about this game is the graphics very nice, you can also change the camera view, which is new in RPG's, the style is very reminisant of the game Battle Realms, think that and you know what i mean.
The story goes like this, your a farmer, and old friend comes hodeling by and dies infront of you, but not efore giing you a task, find someone. so thats what drives you, the only purpose of talking to people is to gain gold for doing things for them, cause you could finish this game by just following the set course (which you cant deviate) until you reach the end, oh and kill every thing along the way, this is the only thing i found bad.
Unlike other RPG's you don't gain experience points for killing monsters, instead the more you use a certain skill the more you...
THE GOOD: good graphics, good action, nice handling. all good and great.
THE BAD: cheaters everywhere
SUMMARY: while some games live on modifications, like q3, some others forbid the player to change anything (like diablo2) so everyone has the same chance.
while modifying this is fine with 1st person shooters, it sux with rpgs. what is it worth if u play for weeks, build up a character, fight bosses for good equipment while another player just modifies a file and is invincible.
to sum it up: playing online with people u dont know sucks horribly. u dont know if u die in an instant, if the weapons you gain vanish in the next game you join, if you get 10000 times the experience for each kill or if you cant do anything at all.
playing it in the lan or only with people you know what modifications they use is fun. but only that. and thats not enough imho.
THE GOOD: Lots of action. 8 team members. a pack mule. And a crapload of side missions/quests.
THE BAD: not much of an RPG element if you ask me. This is just like Rune where you kill everythign in sight... but it's more fun than Rune. Did i also mention it runs slower than Rune?
SUMMARY: Beautiful Graphics.
Easy interface. You'll be a Gladiator in no time. Leveling up is easy, you just do an action say Melee fighting and your strength and melee skill will rise. There are only a few disciplines:
strength, dextirity, and intelligence.
then you have melee, ranged, combat magic and nature magic. That's it. It's so simple I can't believe it's not butter.
The minimum req is 333 mhz but I have an AMD 550 and this game runs at about 18-25 frames per second. Very dissappointing because it seems they optimised this game ONLY for Pentiums for lower end systems. I have 512 SDRAM and a Voodoo 5500 so My gaming...
THE GOOD: Graphics are excellent camera controll is simple gameplay is simple fast paced, and you dont have to go into a mouse clicking frenzy VERY ORIGINAL, its been a long time since we've had an original title, and maintain originality in its gameplay. making this game unique.
THE BAD: Character build up isn't the best, as a matter of fact its poor. controlling the camera in underground dungeons can get confusing, when objects get in your way. 8 players might be too much, in my opinion This game is not the D2 shredder, they arent on the same scale The maps arent randomly generated there is no "world" map, just a mega map.
SUMMARY: This is a great game, a mixture between Baldures Gate and Diablo 2. It is fast paced and simple, like in Diablo 2. but you have to watch for and conroll a team like in BG2. The graphics are Blow away. and the games sys requirements aren't high. gameplay is very...
THE GOOD: about everything. tons of armor and weapons...control up to 8 warrior/archer/mages. pretty long game...without load screens! yes, its true, you only have 1 loadscreen thruout the whole game...but its the one to get you started. after that you just walk around, from city or dungeon...without a load screen if you are into games like this, as i am, you will know alot of them make you repair weapons etc after fighting. not on this one! you never have to repair anything...witch is very good but you also dont see a town for a long time...so breakable weapons wouldnt be good
THE BAD: after you beat it...theres nothing much to do but make another char and play again. but going online would be cool...tho laggy
SUMMARY: its very cool...lets you do whatever you want with you...
THE GOOD: This game features a complete mod friendly system, a map maker, the best graphics I have ever seen, and a lot of things to use my FAQ writing skills on
SUMMARY: A long time ago, creator of Annihalation, Chris Taylor, introduced a new game he had thought of named Dungeon Siege. We have waited many years for this game... AND ITS FINALLY HERE!!!! Dungeon Siege is truly the Diablo Shredder and has good competition against it! DS includes a user-friendly modding system for you game editors out there. The system is built up of graphics and a built-in computer language called skrit which is based off of C++ and incredibly easy to learn. Dungeon Siege introduces a complete map maker called the Siege Editor that gives the full power for mod makers to do their stuff. The graphics in Dungeon Siege are INCREDIBLY amazing. They are truly the greatest I have ever seen. I actually...
