The latest edition of the popular NBA Live series has struck again, this time on the Playstation 2 and with on new improvements. You can choose from an array of teams, and even his Airness, Michael Jordan. Yet even with all of these improvements, the same problem continues to bug this game.

The graphics have been the most updated factor of the game. Visually, this is a very well made game. The court is very sharp, you can actually see reflections of other players and fans in it. The players still seem to have the same old disappearing elbow and other bugs like that. Still, it is visually breathtaking.

As in many of the basketball games, there are play-by-play announcers, but unlike their real life counterparts, they will not bite the backs of a lady of the night. There announcing is very well done, and clear. They don’t get annoying quickly, which is the case in many basketball games. The soundtrack is not very well done, and it brings...

THE GOOD:
graphics

THE BAD:
gameplay(many turnovers, bad statistiks etc etc)

SUMMARY:
oh no, nba live 2001 is one of da most disapointing game i ever played, and i played many games...
i'm sick of dat damn gameplay(here's a list of some bugz):
1)steals : so much steals dat are made...i think it ain't possible to steal a ball of your opponent if u got his back in front of u, but da AI is able to do it
2)fastbreaks: let it be, ya teammates are too slow and ya opponent is too fast
3)passing: kinda senseless to play a pass while ya pass-reciever is out of bounds, but it happens too often
4)rebounds: not easy to get one and it u have da ball...steal in less then a second! try to crash the board when da AI decides to get get the ball...impossible, ya enemy shoots ands rebounds til he got da points; especially in important situation(last quarter/seconds) u can't get da ball
5)shooting: how can it be dat a 94 rated 3...

THE GOOD:
A superb revamped 3D engine that allows for more details and polygons without sacrificing the framerates. The rims and the audience are more realistic. The shooting engine is also (surprisingly) more realistic.
(And watching this CD melt in a hot molton-rock-magma).

THE BAD:
Everything else not listed as "Good". The animation sucked, the players move very awkardly (The Players Don't Seem To Want To Jump!)

SUMMARY:
Well, I rented the 2001 version of the NBA Live series from EA Sports. And I had high hopes for this game after playing their super-extravagant NBA Live 2000 game for the past year. But this game is a complete flop. Why did they choose to revamp the animations, the player models and the overall pace of the game? I have no idea. First of all, eventhough each player's head are nicely modeled and textured, the player's body types are now stuck to one type. In the 2000 version, they managed to make a clear...

THE GOOD:
More post moves, more realistic players and game-play.

THE BAD:
No Refs!!! No in-game save feature.

SUMMARY:
Personally, I think that there should be a choice of musical genres. I think that they've gone a little overboard with the hip-hop music. But, what do I know? Maybe that's what the typical angry, White, angst-filled, adolescent, male, video game player wants to hear.

Otherwise this is a very good game. The gameplay is completely different from NBA live 2000. In this game, the Big men rule the paint. (Maybe this is a dig at Kobe???)

THE GOOD:
Fun gameplay,great moves and dunks.

THE BAD:
No mid-game save

SUMMARY:
Live 2001 has a great number of options and mode of play. The players are very realistic and are not able to jump to the rafters, spin and do a flip, all before dunking. I may be exagerating but it is a great improvement over last year's version.
