THE GOOD:
Allows for full control of the entire race, down to what technologies to research, what type of spying to do on whom (economic, scientific, military, or general; espionage or sabotage) but also allows for automation. Same applies to combat, many minor races to fight, conquer or ally with.

THE BAD:
Starts to run slow as game goes on...simple fix is to save, exit and restart game if it takes too long. Online play is toast (MSN Zone no longer supports it, no other official method, you have to know the other's IP)

SUMMARY:
I love this game, and wish that a sequel would come out. Somewheres I ran across an attempt to make an open sourced 2, and another where they were trying to get the code for the first one.

When I get bored with my games, I know I can always count on BOTF for some fun.

THE GOOD:
This game is good for several reasons one; it captures the next generation world succesfully and incorperates it into this turn based strategy, it uses all the Federation ships seen throughout tng and ds9, attention to detail was also a key development in the game, the development side allthough lacking in some aspects is good, this is also a good game for any one with a pre meditated strategy or is also good for someone to go with the flow and just adapt as he/she goes along.

THE BAD:
The game starts to slow down(depending on processor speed) when you have explored alot and theres alot going on, the Federation allthough peaceful will attack agressively if there ship is bigger than yours, diplomacy is also in need of development as the federation will not willingly accept treatys or other offers

SUMMARY:
All in all a good game lacking in some aspects but excelling in others, you have all aspects of different cultures added to this...
