Tombraider III: The Lost Artifact

"The Lost Artifact suffers from some of the same problems as the earlier game in terms of graphic inconsistencies, but manages to overcome them by providing a refined style of play that benefits greatly from the mistakes of the past. The designers admit to being big fans of the series and checked the forums for things that gamers complained about or praised in the previous titles. And just like watching an old episode of Baywatch (with a pre-breast reduction Pamela Lee), certain “modifications” made to Lara’s character for TRIV are still fully intact in the Lost Artifact. I guess there are some benefits to using old technology."

"If you're a die hard fan of the Tomb Raiders series there is probably nothing I am going to say that will prevent you from buying this game. You get the same game play, the same graphics and practically the same graphical Lara from 5 years ago. I'm all about progress and unfortunately, this game contradicts that thinking. Tomb Raider: The Lost Artifact is not a horrible effort, but its not a great effort either. But there's one thing that I still like about this game after all these years.....Lara is still a babe."

"The secrets now open up into whole new areas and challenges, with unique characters and props. So, for example, in the course of your normal adventuring you may discover the secret behind the Loch Ness monster, or stumble upon the hidden glen, or drop back in time to uncover secrets at the Earth's core! Then there's the riddle of Joan of Arc, and some surprising relics from World War II."

"We could go on and on, but you get the point. Although the levels are well designed, and the story is nicely done, The Lost Artifact adds nothing new to the Tomb Raider mythos. Still, if you haven't tired of Lara's antics, this game should provide a nice fix until the next Tomb Raider game is shoveled out the door."

"They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks but for Lara Croft's sake, I hope they can. The Lost Artifact is your typical Tomb Raider adventure. Unless you've become a huge fan of the femme fatale and must have each of Lara's adventures in your collection, I suggest you pass on this un-eventful expansion pack."
