SUMMARY:
I got X2 The Threat about 3 days ago after downloading the rolling demo. After watching the demo i couldnt wait to get the game, looked absolutely ace.

But as you probably already know once i purchased the game i realised what a real let down the game really was. I have a Atlon Xp2600+ (2.1Ghz) 512Mb DDR(Pc2700) and a ATI Radeon9600Pro. The game runs really smooth for the most part with graphics up full at 32Bit (without Anti Analysing On Tho. There are problems with the game engine though.NO matter what system you have pentium III 1Gig or a Nasa super computer you always get a drop in fram rate at certain points for no reason at all!

I wouldnt recommend this game to anybody but a die hard gamer with hundreds of hours spare to fly around a universe doing absolutely nothing. The first couple of missions are a real drag, a bit like taxi runs. Plus you cant start a scrap with anybody because your ship is so crap, anybody can blow you to bits.

Its better to use the Hex editor cheat and get 999,999,999 credits. At least that way you might play the game a bit longer!

Once youve got yourself a few capital ships and some fighter back up the game gets a bit more fun, you can destroy stuff now!Thats the only reason i gave this game nearly four out of five, purely because you can, eventually get a huge fleet together, move into one of the sectors and build your own empire. Solar power plants factories etc. You can even take over the whole sector if you destroy all the other ships and stations there. Its hard though.

By the way, if you have a graphics card older than a Geforce4 Mx you might have trouble playing this game since its DX8.1 minimum. The GeForce 2,3,4Mx series are all DX8.1 code compatible but do not have the 8.1 chipset/hardware, and they arent upgradeable (uless you solder new chips to the boards, lol).
