THE GOOD: Bullet time. This is revolutionary in action games has inspired new games like True Crime: Streets of L.A, Dead to Rights are some examples. Max Payne's story is great, gritty and dark, the story flows smoothly although the ending just anticipates Max Payne 2: Fall of Max Payne. Also the music must be recommended.
THE BAD: The PS2 version's framerate was horrible. My god it was very slow. The graphics look plastered, Max himself looks in dire need of laxitives.
SUMMARY: I had a great time with Max Payne, despite it's graphical flaws, nothing like shooting people in New York City's Underworld at night during a blizzard of which I have seen worse. The story is told by a "graphic plot" I belive, it's great because they even come up during missions. The only things that bothered me were the graphics. Otherwise, now this game is on Greatest Hits, 20 bucks, Go cand Check it out!

SUMMARY: I like it and found it fun to kill on thear. I love the wepons on thear and the way the bodys flew after killing them. I also like the story to it how the good cop becomes most wonted this game relly dose kick ass. I also think the blood shead was grat the way it flew and spills every wear. I think it is a good game to take out your anger on jest to walk around killing people that fu## with you. and it's hard witch makes it fun. maby a little more blood would make it good that is why i like to play the game so that what i tink so have fun playing and killing but rember it only a game so if you take it out on real life then kill some one for me.

SUMMARY: this has got to be one of my favorite games in my collection. it has great graphics, and great bullet time. i give it 4.6. there were a couple glitches and some things that im sure will be fixed in max payne 2. and some people may say its easy, but its not, its really hard. and can even turn into one giant mind game at times. this game has it all. action, a good storyline(i think so at least), great graphics, the list can go on and on. good job R*, 2 thumbs up!

SUMMARY: Ok I just finished the game. The graphics and the environment AI are extremely good. The Graphics and movement of the "people" are so good, they make sure the foot is turned and such when they are getting up.
That being said whoever set the story and game play for this incredible game engine should be taken out back and beat with a hose.
The story was sophomoric and stupid, and the game play itself was nothing more than 3 bad guys, kill 'em, go 2 floors repeat, over and over and over.... To make it harder towards the end they just make it every floor. It is all events driven, and linier. The bad guys even "pop" into the environment, so you can't even go ahead and kill the bad guys; it is such a step backwards. The AI is supposed to be good; in reality it is sloppy and moronic. Sometimes the bad guys know where your at with no way of knowing, sometimes they sit there...

SUMMARY: Max Payne is a strange 3rd person shooter that deals with a cop that had his wife and kid killed for some reason a while before the game starts. Max Payne goes through the game looking for the reason and the people behind the murder. The story is really cool and weird. The cutscenes are cartoon type framework. The levels are really fun to go through. The music and bullet time kicks ass. Bullet time is so cool in this game because it's like the matrix in a lot of ways. Blowing away an enemy with a pump action shotgun or jackhammer is the best rush. The storyline with the framework and max payne's voice in the background is awesome.

SUMMARY: The game is about a NYPD cop that comes home one day and finds these guys in house that kidnap his baby and kill his wife,and is framed for murder of a DEA agent and Max(main character) knows who framed him and his determined to track Jack Lupino(the guy that framed Max) down and kill him.
Well this game has the best vareity of weapons.From what I can remember the is a .50 caliber Desert Eagle,a Pancor Jackhammer Shotgun,a Sniper Rifle,a M79,a Beretta,Dual Berettas,Pump-Action Shotgun,Sawed Off shotgun,Ingram Mac 10,Dual Ingram Mac 10's, Grenades,Molitov Cocktails,a Colt Cammando,an Aluminum Baseball bat,a Lead Pipe,and thats about it.
THE GOOD: Good storyline. Kick-ass weapons. Good shoot-em-up. Extremely detailed.
THE BAD: Long load times. Controls are hard to use at first.
SUMMARY: The game is about an undercover officer in the NYPD named Max Payne, whose family was murdered. He is a vigiliante that is gunning down druggies.
Basically, the story is extremely intense, and, in fact, worthy of a movie. The blood, weapons, and levels are extremely detailed. Let us give props to the people at Rockstar Games, makers of State Of Emergency, Grand Theft Auto, and Midnight Club.
This game has a M, for Mature, rating. So, parents, exercise good caution and widsom when renting/purchasing this game.
