THE GOOD:everything that a SH game should have
THE BAD:
nothing in general
SUMMARY:
I would call this game the best SH title.it is definetely the best in terms of horrific visuals and oppressive atmosphere, and it is the best in terms of storyline and, well, sense(in fact it is the only SH game that has real sense(I know many people would disagree with this)).
well,shortly about main aspects:
STORYLINE: very impressive, especially if you played the first SH.in fact it is a sequel to the first SH title.by the way, this is the first SH game with a female main character.
GAMEPLAY: it is actually the best of all SH titles.the real,old-school survival horror.minimum amount of supplies & ammo, maximum amount of merciless monsters at every step.not a second to rest(well, only during cut scenes).this SH title is indeed concentrated much on gameplay, not less than on storyline.
for those who played previous games-same great SH but improved, with new possibilities(like ability to put on an additional "armor",which makes you more slow, but less vulnerable to attacks),
for those who didn't(or didn't play horror games at all)-simply the best survival horror experience,if you wanna know what is a survival horror game, try this one!
difficulty is very decent, and this game really requires good gaming experience(you won't be able to waste your ammo and medkits much).
GRAPHICS: in fact the limit of Playstation 2.nuff said..
AMBIENT SOUNDS & SOUNDTRACK: again-indeed the best of all SH games.soundtrack is very impressive, especially the ending song with J.Romersa's vocal.ambient sounds are awesome and indeed help much to create a terrific, realistic atmosphere of the game.very impressive, especially in head phones.
LASTING APPEAL: decent, plenty of stuff to unlock, secret, hidden weapons and etc.good replay value.
well, and now I would like to mention several negatives, because of which I can't give this game a 5/5 score:
first-the lack of ability to explore the town like in two previous games,so the game feels kinda of pretty linear.I know, many people would disagree with this, because they kinda tired of the same "SH" town, but still-I consider this a small negative, developers definetely could make this game at least a little more free in terms of "map-exploration",really it feels kinda divided into "levels","stages",SH 1 & 2 allowed for some "side-wandering".
second-not so much replay value as in previous games,SH 1 & 2 had much more endings.in fact this game has only one ending, others are bonuses and can be achieved only during "new game+".
well,as you may guess,I highly recommend you this game, whether you are a die-hard fan of survival horror games or a newbie.
