This game is intense. There is no easy way to heal, no easy way to save. There's no way to level up easily, either. It's a constant hard struggle through long dungeons, with only a small amount of storage space (compared to other games) for items. There's no point where all your HP is restored. Tthere's no inn's, no magic springs, no resting. All you have are your hard won items throughout the entire game. And did I mention the limited inventory? You begin with a backpack consisting of two pages, each page of which has five different slots. In other words, you can carry ten different items, but you can only have ten of each in any slot. Fortunately, you can pick up six or seven more backpack pages. Unforunately, these are not carried over onto New Games.

The world of Dragon Quarter is different from all the other Breath of Fires. It's completely underground. You begin a thousand feet down, and the majority of the game consists of you working your way to the...

THE GOOD:
The story plot seems so different from the other Breath of Fires I've ever seen. The originality is definitely there. Such a creative twist from your everyday hero living on the upper land doing mystical quests, this one really caught my eye all together.

The characters, Ryu, Nina and Lin. Incredibly made characters and I'll tell you why.

Ryu - Incredible sword techniques that are give and found for him along with great dragon powers, but be careful not to over do it.

Nina - A frail looking girl but very powerful with magic.

Lin - Some of the best guns skills I've seen. Can be proven to be very powerful.

Along with being able to equip skills to their shield which turns out quite useful when fighting the baddies.

Very graphic and detail battles when fighting that just scream greatness in it.

Incredible soundtrack that I loved so damn much that I couldn't...

THE GOOD:
Emersive gameplay and the more you play, the more you will gain of the story. Sountrack blends well with the areas. Backround quality is amazing. The Fighting style is unique and fresh. It is a welcome change in the Role playing game scene.

THE BAD:
Ultimate defence on regents
The Time before save points is a bit long, but other than that you've got yourself one hell of a game.

SUMMARY:
Other than the long time between save points, the character detail and brilliant storyline provide any RPG fan with an amazing game. Minigames expand it to a new level and offer new parts of the story to be accessed. The variety of weapons and skills available open up the game especially during System overlay. D-Dive will save you a few times but if it is used often you will be forced to restart or SOL.

THE GOOD:
U can play the game many times, and find new stuff because of the SOL system.

Pretty good graphics, the music is not so bad.

THE BAD:
If u don´t have much time DON`T BUY THIS GAME!!! u must at least play 2-3 h before u can save the game, and sometimes u have to fight hard bosses befor u can save and if u die u just gotta begin all over again from u´r last savepoint, that means, u have spent 3 hours for nothing... and that SUCKS!

And u never have enough with heal kit´s cuz u don´t have room for them u get to much other stuff u want when u for exampel defeat some enemy´s. That aint funny! and by the way, there´s no inn´s in this game..

SUMMARY:
Ryu, the main character, has an outstanding ability - his ability to turn into a dragon.

A counter appears in the top right corner of the screen(after u defeat the first boss). If it hits 100%, you lose instantly (with one exception being at the end of...

THE BAD:
most of the speciality of the game is the replay idea however this can get booring and repeptitive but not enough to shake too many players especially as u can get new scenes to watch in ure replays

THE GOOD:
+ Great replay value.
+ Great music.
+ Fun and unique battle system.

THE BAD:
- Repetitive nature of dungeons.
- No outside world.

SUMMARY:
The entire setting for Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter takes place in an underground city called Sheldar. Sheldar is broken up into sectors, known as the living areas: LowSector, EndSector, MidSector and TopSector. Every resident of Sheldar have government numbers called D-Ratio's which is an identification number which also measures the person's latent abilities. Ryu, who is the main character in the game, has a low D-Ratio of 1/8192 and works as a ranger with his partner Bosch, who has a high D-Ratio of 1/64. Ryu and Bosch's duties are patrolling the genic habitation areas of LowSector to make sure no genics harm any residents. Genics, which are made as domesticated creatures at the BioCorp labs, but some go feral and cause destruction. Ryu and Bosch's boss, Captain Zeno, gives...

First of all, I would like to say something to any big BoF fans that want another BoF game that follows the exact same formula of all of the originals... don't buy this. Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter is completely different from previous games. However, I think it is improved.
Before I am flamed, hear me out. The battle system is great. It makes battles fun and interesting. You can create your own styles of play and you always see enemies before they fight you. Also, this game has a story that is NOT about saving the entire earth from an evil entity, and, let's face it, 99.9% of RPGs use the 'save the world' story. This game's story is simply about a young man who will do anything to save a friend, even if that means going from an underground world to the world above ground, and ends up realizing his full potential and fighting his own friends in the process.
The Ant Colony sidequest is a fun way to spend Zenny, if you have any left over. This brings me...

THE GOOD:
-cool Graphics
-Music
-battle system
-Unique underground city

THE BAD:
-Very hard to earn zenny
-The storyline
-Save tokens-Hard to find or earn
-No inns
-lose ap when moving around the battle field

SUMMARY:
To all bof fans i reccommend not buying this game, if you want to try it,then you should just rent it then. So anyways bof 5 dq has changed a lot from previous bof's- The battle system is unique on you battle enemys, you can also buy traps like dyanamite & food and toss it at an enemy before entering the battle to injur or hurt the enemy-Graphics are pretty good for a 2d/3d game-Money is hard to earn, you only get a little bit of money if at all after winning battles-Like previous bof's you have the option to rest in inns, in bof 5 dq you can't rest in inns-I give this game a 2.5 it could've been better.

THE GOOD:
I like the game play through the donguens and the game play actually can be a little difficult

THE BAD:
d ratio for being a dragon is anoying

SUMMARY:
hey the main reason I think you people don't like it is because its to hard for you so don't wine because you stink. Also there are alot of things that are pretty cool like the ant colony and fighting the regents. This game only lacks the length of game play that is if you don't replay the game to lower your d-ratio and get the best weapons. Overal if you only play this game for about one hour you won't like it put in at least 3 to put and opinion on it.

THE GOOD:
nothing. Just graphic

THE BAD:
Just about everthing

SUMMARY:
I got this game and this game is not for bof fans. it is nothing like a bof game. their is no inns,no healing spells. and most of all you need save tonkes(wich are hard to get) to save. this game is the wrost bof games i ever played. Get a beter game game like wild arms 1,2 or 3(my mom like wild arms 3 better then bof 5) or bof 1,2,3 or 4 or even yu-gi-oh!
