THE GOOD:
Great rewarding Gameplay, good camera work, lots of weapon upgrades and items. Town Building is very fun and keeps you playing.

THE BAD:
A bit repetitive, Enemies could have been a little better both graphically and creatively, Sound could have used some dialogue.

SUMMARY:
I really enjoy this game. It started off a little slow but once you get into the game a few hours the game picks up. The graphics are pretty good, as good as any other PS2 game(at least for the genre)
I was most impressed by the amount of items and weapon upgrades in the game. You are rewared very oftenly making the game very hard to put down. This by no means is "Better" than Zelda. Zelda was the original, and dark cloud is Heavily influenced by it. But is that a bad thing? I hear a lot of user reviews bashing it for being like zelda. I for one, loved Zelda and am glad I can play a simular game without having to buy a Nintendo system. Anyway, great...

THE GOOD:
Classic RPG Feel, Original World Building, Lots of Different Items and Weapons

THE BAD:
Random Dungeons get Old, No Character Voices

SUMMARY:
I have to say that Dark Cloud is the best adventure/RPG game out for the PS2 as of November. It is not to complicated like Summoner and has tons of original features that make you want to play it more than once.

First off, I love the classic RPG feel: talking to NPCs, solving puzzles, and grabbing weapons and items galore. As for originality, Dark Cloud delivers a World Building feature which allows you to design the way the towns look and feel. Instead of your characters gaining experience and levels, it is your weapons that gain strength by upgrades and build-up. If you like the classic RPG with originality, Dark Cloud is the game you've been looking for on the PS2.

The only bad things about Dark Cloud is that there are no characters voices, which is ok since I don't...

Many people that have looked at previews for this game say that its just a rip off of zelda and that isn't true its just the same rpg/adventure format, and if people do say that than you would also say that tons of other games are rip offs but their not, just the same format. This game has been very well put together and has excellent graphics. You play as a about 15 year old boy named toan who was in a village that was having a celebration, but gets destroyed by the dark genie who was released by a man that wants to spread war, But a mage put all of the people and bulidings into little spheres before the attack hit and it is your job to search a huge cave to find the missing town peaces by using a device the mage gave you and rebuild the village to your liking. Also you can find new attributes for your weapons and upgrade them, but you have to be careful not to let your weapon get to damaged or it will break, so you have to use a magic bag to keep them at max stability. You can...

THE BAD:
Okay, so the cinematics could probably be a little better. But all in all the game still looks nice...

SUMMARY:
But I just have to say that any game that has me this addicted and hardpressed to put it down must be good. I'll play it for hours and hours and barely notice the time. As far as I'm concerned, that certainly says how much I like it especially concerning my short attention span with a lot of other games. So... that's good enough for me. I'd recommend it, and have been.
Oh, btw, the georama stuff is really cool. Imho.

THE GOOD:
Even after three and a half years, the graphics are crisp, clears and clean, great music(I have soundtrack) and adorable character design. Not to mention involving game play featuring town building, dungeon crawling and weapon customization.

THE BAD:
Weapons will break over time, but other than that, the game's nearly perfect.

SUMMARY:
Story(9.5/10)- An innocent boy by the name of Toan is thrust into a quest to save the world with the aid of a magical jewel known as the Atlamillia. For you see, his world was shattered by an evil demon known as the Dark Genie, and it's up to him to rebuild the fallen world. And near the end of the game, the true origins of the Dark Genie are revealed. In my opinion, I liked the easy to follow story line, and quirky, upbeat nature of the game. ^-^

Characters(9/10)- Toan is our quiet-natured, amber-eyed hero. He is joined by a cute cat-girl named Xiao, an attitude carrying boy named Goro, a...

THE GOOD:
the graphics in this game were awesome.the story line was easy to follow and fun to follow.i liked the game because you could build up yer weopons to get the ultimate one.i also liked how you could meet and get allies.i also liked the dungeon feature you could find atla and rebuild all those little towns.and finnaly the lenghth and boss of the game that was cool.

THE BAD:
i think the demon shaft was dumb. you shouldnt end a good game with a 100 leveled dungeon i meen come on the game was long enough. but thats about it for the bad section other than what i wrote nothing else was bad.

SUMMARY:
instead of having all those allies you have to switch to i think they should have made like final fantasies where all your allies fight with you instead of having to switch all the time.

GREAT GAME!!!!

Dark Cloud is one of those cult classics that have a sort of cult following. Honestly, do you expect mainstream gamers to go find a copy of Dark Cloud and play it? Well, they may buy it, but they may not like it. That's their problem, this is a true classic. Not in the same sense as other cult classics such as Super Ghouls N Ghosts and Final Fantasy 9 (despite the latter being of a mainstream series, it was only really successful with the more hardcore gamers) due to a decent amount of glaring flaws, but the goods seem to make it a classic regardless. Read on as I tell you the tale of a game that was left in the dust due to the glaring flaws, but became a success in the underground.

To begin the game, you start by reading some blurb about god knows what before you name your main character. His official name is Toan, but you name him what you want (yes, it proceeds even if you call him a vulgar word - you could name him assclown for all I care). Anyway, after naming...

THE GOOD:
A Unique blend of zelda, Final Fantasy, and Vagrant Story- the idea of rebuilding the world the way you want is awesome- it puts a new spin on the action/adventure/rpg genres- the weapon system is awesome- upgrades and synth speres- the graphics are passable- virtually no load times- filling the requests of the people

THE BAD:
its not extremely challenging- but sometimes its hard- the allies suck sometimes

SUMMARY:
anyone who says this is a zelda rip-off has not played the game or if they have then theyre just intoxicated, cause this is a comepletely fresh game, and deserves to be occluded from zelda's shadow- this game is just fun in every way- and the dungeons are randomized- so the people who say that they get boring hav the attention spans of 2 year-olds. Dark Cloud is awesome

I am glad that I didn't listen to all of the negative reviews, because I would have missed out on one of the best PS2 games so far. Anyone who has ever played this game knows all about the way the controller sticks in your hands forever. 'Just one more piece of Atla....Just one more weapon upgrade...' This game calls me all day long. It is driving me freaking insane, especially since I can't catch a fish to save my life. Graphics are decent, sound gets old fairly quick, but I think the story is definately better than people are making it out to be. The combat is just like Zelda (that much is true), but really what other way wouyld there be to play these type of fighting sequences. Anyways, at the very least, give it a rental and try it yourself. I know that I have put in 25 hours in just over a week, and already can't wait for the sequel. I'M OUT.
THE GOOD:
This game is awesome! From the characters to the weapons, to the cities, you will find fun around every corner. A true fantasy rpg.

THE BAD:
The only bad parts to this game is how long it takes to build up the characters, but isn't that the case in any game.

SUMMARY:
Dark Cloud is long enough to be considered a game. You don't find that often at this time and day. Most of the time the game is short so the sequel can come out sooner. Dark Cloud will take up your time. Also, you will love this game if you are a fan of fantasy. It brought me to a world of wonderful adventure. I loved everything about it. I would recommend this game to anyone who is a gamer.
