THE GOOD:
1. Transformations look nicer now, some attacks have been redefined as well
2. A more cinematic story mode than before
3. A good handful of modes. Ultimate Battle will sure keep you busy for a short
4. More than enough characters to choose from
5. Great A.I.

THE BAD:
1. The game gets a little boring and competitive after a while
2. Shorter story mode
3. Melee combat remain almost the same for all characters
4. Didnt deliver as much as anticipated

SUMMARY:
Lets start with the good.

Transformations/Attacks (Blast 2's, UB's)
The transformations look much nicer in this game. Especially the Saiyans who are able to transform into Great Ape/Oozaru. Alot of the characters Attacks have really been redefined and look more accurate to the show. Despite some characters being "left out in the cold" (attacks havent changed at all), the attacks for almost everyone are good nonetheless.

Story Mode
Story mode have been shorter, yeah, but the Story Mode has dramatically improved for the better. It is more interactive with cutscenes in the game. The main storylines makes it feel like the original series.

A good handful of Modes
There are alot of modes that you can do besides the Story Mode. There is of course Dueling, Ultimate Battle, Training, Tournament Mode, and Evolution Z there many sorts of varieties to customize your favorite DBZ character. In Ultimate Battle, there is Disk Fusion where you insert previous Tenkachi games to unlock even more modes. There is also Mission 100 where you fight against many opponents and there is Sim Dragon Mode where you train your character before you fight one opponent. From then on, the process repeats until you defeat the 7th opponent. Achieve as many points as you can. The more you have, the more you will get Z-points to further customize tour character. Then there is tournament mode where you compete in 5 tournaments. The only downside to this is that all tournaments are set to random and you cant pick your difficulty.

Characters
There are in total 161 characters (including transformations) to choose from. One downside to this is that there are some characters that are useless and should have been replaced by much more important characters that have not been introduced to a DBZ game yet.

The A.I
The A.I. has dramatically improved in this game. Say goodbye to 5 CPU's Vs. 1 Character (unless you are really good). This game will take some training to take on the hardest difficulty setting in Duel mode. You have to be more on the defensive side and use all the new defensive techniques added to this game to beat your opponent.

The Bad

There are a handful of the things the gamer is lacking. First off, the game gets boring and repetitive after a while; a lack of replay value. This has been a big problem to the Tenakaichi series and it is still holding my jump back.

We have gone over the shorter story mode but another problem to the story mode is that they dont allow free roam. Tenkaichi 2 had it so why take it out?

The moves for melee combat is basically the same for all characters. Sure they added new combos but almost every character has those new combos, restraining the only distinct unique between characters to only Blast 1's, 2's and Ultimate Blasts. to the There is no unique combo for any character hence another reason why the game gets boring in a pretty short while.

In Conclusion
If you havent played Tenkaichi 1 or 2 and you want the closest thing to the Dragonball series, this is the game for you. However, I cant say the same for the users who own Tenkachi 2. If you already have Tenkaichi 2, I would suggest thinking twice before you buy this game. There are redeeming qualities in this game but this game is merely like a Tenkaichi 2 Expansion Pack. If you were expecting a jump like from Tenkaichi 1 to 2, you will be highly disappointed. The jump from Tenkaichi 2 to 3 is more like a half jump. If you do buy the game however, enjoy it while it lasts because I cant promise this game will last as long as Tenkaichi 2. I suggest waiting for the next gen game, DBZ Burst Limit coming out for the PS3 and the XBox 360.
