THE GOOD: Firstly, this game is really fun! A really great game with stupid techniques, and hilarious consequences! It seems simple, but Contracts delivers the solid fun required by any game.
One of the best aspects of the game is that you have multiple choices for completing missions; there are loads of ways of getting the job done, from shooting your way through a hotel to putting laxative in a guy’s soup!
Some levels contain some truly lovely scenery. Hitman is filled with great levels, with marvelous weather effects, the best of which has to be the snow in "The Bjarkhov Bomb". It’s absolutely stunning.
The main appeal of the game is its Sandbox levels- No straight lined, stuck on tracks gaming here. You have the whole level to explore, and usually 3 or 4 ways to get access to the places you want to be!
Although we have better these days, the game had some good AI, for the time. It's decent enough; at least guards care if you run into them. For 2004, IO Interactive accomplished a lot.
There are some clever techniques when it comes to getting the job done. While playing, you will see some truly quality moments, from pouring weedkiller into the water supply to putting a bomb down the chimney!
What give a good bit of fun are the ragdoll physics. They are hilarious, and hours can be spent blasting people across rooms, over furniture, down stairs, and the like (Especially with Dual Sawn-Off Shotguns!).
There is an interesting Storyline, at least it goes somewhere, but the fact that nearly the whole game is a series of flashbacks is a bit too much.
What I liked in particular was the equal blend of stealth and combat. Even though you may not manage to get the stealthy kill, you can always fall back on simple shoot-em-up gameplay! It’s a nice addition to the game.
Then there’s the HUGE arsenal of Weapons in the game! Loads to choose from, which you get by either picking them up and finishing a level with them, or getting an elusive Silent Assassin rating and taking home one of the rare, lethal guns of doom! Brilliant!
There is some good replay value. Not great, but at least you won’t trade it in as soon as you’ve finished it.
THE BAD: Unfortunately, there is some bad animation, in places; Agent 47 slides around the place, with movements that make it seem like he has rickets.
I was a bit annoyed by the tricky controls- Not only are they hard to use, but there are no headers in the Tutorial! It's either figure them out yourself, or, *shudders* read the manual. It’s a bit stupid how much useless exploration there is in places. There are a lot of dead ends, pointless rooms, and misplaced Points of Interest- What’s so interesting about a random car?
A real let-down is the pretty bad dialogue- There is a pause between each characters speech, meaning 47 interrupts someone three seconds after they finish speaking.
Not the worst aspect, but the fact that it takes a bit to get into the game is a little bit annoying. Thankfully, you won’t be annoyed for long, as it only takes about two or three levels to get the hang of the system. Then, the fun begins…
SUMMARY: Okay, when I got this game, I wasn't optimistic. I was hoping for Blood Money, just so I could say I've played/ completed it. I just decided to give it a shot, since I had nothing better to do. As soon as I started, I was disappointed. The game seemed bland and boring, not to mention confusing. I was just spinning in circles. I kept going through the game, however, and my dismay subsided. I started getting the hang of the controls, and an idea of how to do things right. I was having fun, and that was what counted. Aside from the dodgy controls, useless animation and daft conversations, Contracts is a damn fine game, one which is hard not to play. Inventive gameplay and imaginative kills are the order of the day, with some truly spectacular ways to deal with your hits. Silent Assassin ratings are hard to accomplish, but they are possible, and you get a great feeling when you do!
The thing is, even though the animations and graphics aren’t as great as they could be, there is a simple explanation- IO Interactive invested all there efforts into the gameplay. This is what everyone should be doing- Even though beautiful graphics, seamless animations and stunning scenery are nice, we buy games to have fun, not look at how the game is put together. Not only that, but since Contracts isn’t complicated with perfect animations and AI, I failed to come across a single glitch during the time I played Hitman. Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention, but the fact that the fun gameplay distracted me from such things such as that is another merit to Hitman: Contracts, making it a great game of the type rarely seen in today’s gaming industry.

THE GOOD: The actual objectives are better it think, you have to actually assasinate more people, also the story line is better. one of the best things is the map and wepons are vastly improved. overall a great game and if you liked hitman 2 this is a must have!!THE BAD: not enogh levels and too easy in places in the option "normal". at the same time the level "seafood massicare" takes the piss! took me 3 days to do and that was only witht he wakthrough, really couldnt get it! SUMMARY: its a very good game, improved from hitman 2 and at the same time keeps all the good aspects and gameplay from it! i like the way you can shoot cars and the alarms go off wich distract the guards. and how the trianing level is much better than that stupid church! you can practice your shooting sneaking and sniper shooting! its all good! but also you get a good idea of the weapons! its also more free roming than the last ones i belive so that you can improve your stats by sneaking up on people and roaming around! |

THE GOOD: Good weapons,Plenty of ways to kill, better A.I.,Plenty of ways to do a levelTHE BAD: Not enough moves,A bit repetitive,Sometimes dumb A.I.,Aiming can be a bit dodgy,Getting your cover blown even when they cant see your face i.e. wearing a balaclava,Too short SUMMARY: Its a good game with good level variety but the game is way too short. There is some dodgy A.I. moments when they stand in the way of each other when they are shooting at you and the fact that the aiming can be dodgy when you aim at the head when you are 2 metres away and it hits them in the leg or chest. Apart frome that its a good game with plenty of weapons and ways to kill depending on whether you do it Terminatior style or Sam Fisher or Solid Snake style its up to you. A dark game thats worth your money if you want a game like this or you liked Hitman 2. |

THE GOOD: Nice variety of weapons, improved graphics and AI, improved gameplay. Cool music, storyline. Easier to achieve Silent Assassin, also more ways to achieve it. The coolest thing to do though is on missions where the SWAT storm places, it is extremely cool to kill one of them and take his place and help SWAT storm, run around killing baddies etc.THE BAD: Still killing the poor old Russians and no Arabs, hah! Just like the previous games, this is very short and can be finished with Silent Assassin Ranking in a day. AI can be very silly and the game contains a few small stupid things e.g. The Bjarkhov Bomb, Commander Bjarkhov does not have his hands even near the steering wheel, jeep is so raw it doesn't even have door handles. Also when Bjarkhov and Fabian are walking around together they do not speak in sentences they keep repeating the same sentence, sometimes not even in time with each other e.g. "How long can they last in this frozen waste bucket?" "As long as I pay them to." "that's incompetent." That is what they are supposed to say but sometimes they say "As long as i pay them to, As long as i pay them to, As long as i pay them to, As long as i pay them to." "Thats inc.." "As long as I pay them too." etc, weird. SUMMARY: Great game. Needs to be longer though. Needs more unlockables, aswell as earning guns for achieving SA. The game is a lot more realistic, how people can die against the wall, guards can kill guards accidentally, animals, like the horses, can alert guards, you can turn electricity off. |

THE GOOD: this game has great graphics. also great weopons. i also like the location of the game. i meen who doesnt like blastin thru a friken humongous buthcher shop with silver ballers in both yer hands? this game puts you right in the middle of the life of a hitman and his grim past.there are also some sweet cheats for this game.THE BAD: there really is no bad part to this game. everything is great from the guns to the graphics. but if you get nightmares from sliced up animals or just blowin the brains out of people with sawed off shotguns this game is not for you. {M for Mature} SUMMARY: If you have played any of the other games in this awesome series you will definitly enjoy this one. this game is ten times as better as all the other ones. from the graphics to the guns. its objectives are challenging and after you beat this game on easy try it on hard mode and beat the game in every level with the rating of silent assassin.<---- very challenging |

THE GOOD: Excellent level design Tons of guns More gore splat on walls More detail Smoother than plastic Looks great New control system that works better Still plenty of thought envolved Good sense of excitment and tension Beautiful gaming, Beautiful...THE BAD: Mmm, It taking me a while whats going on with 47's brain Too dark and twisted for me Still harsh AI SUMMARY: This is great and very simiar to the last Hitman game. Io Interactive made Silent Assassin over a year ago. Then they made Freedom Fighters but now there are back on track with the Hitman series and this doesn't is still a fantastic game. But to get out of the way is the bad points. Starting of with how twisted it is. On the Meat King mission, you will encounter plenty of slaugtered animals like cows and stuff. This is to sick and disturbing for me. (I bet someone's reading this and laughing at me in the face) Also the story ain't good compared to the last one. He gets his insides scapled and then you play his flashback or something. (I have not completed it yet so I don't know what happens) But the good stuff is starts with the brilliant array of weapons. There's Gk17's, Ak74's, shotguns and lots more. Oh yes, that super gameplay is still there. You can still go in with machine guns blazing or do stuff like kill the target by instead giving him wiskey, give him poison. Brill. Take note I gave this game 4.5, the same score I gave the last one but still worth playing. |

THE GOOD: Almost like an add on to Hitman 2, but it's more indepth and challenging. You can just go Rambo and kill ev'ryone if you want to. Amazing graphics Even better soundTHE BAD: Just like Hitman 2 (In case you don't like Hitman 2) The Ai can suck sometimes. If you don't like to take your time skip it. SUMMARY: The game is just like more Silent Assassin. There haven't been any major changes to graphics, controls, or presentation. The sound had been redone, however, and the new music really fits the game. The game is fun whether you play it as a stealth action game or a crazy, frantic shooter. The 3rd or 4th mission where you're in Russian has some of the best weather graphics I've ever seen. If you didn't like Silent Assassin I doubt you will like this one.
All I wanted was more Silent Assassin and that's what I got. |
