PS2  Best MGS game 4.7

THE GOOD:
- Two playable characters
- Graphics
- Unlock items
- Bosses
- Storyline

THE BAD:
- Short game

SUMMARY:
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, followed from the big hit Metal Gear Solid on Playstation. This adventure follows Snake and a new character called Raiden, where you fight to defeat Solidus. The storyline is very more indepth within this game, rather than the last and leaves the game open to so much more.

Despite the game having a very involved storyline, it's a short game, which seems to be the only down point to this game, for me. I enjoy playing the game, each time, but I can complete the game very quickly, as there isn't a great deal of tasks to do and when you think about it, it may seem long, but it's in fact, a very short game.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is much like Metal Gear Solid, where you access your weapons, rations etc. by press R2 and L2 to bring up each menu. The camera angle is very similar, but a lot more accurate. The newest option is able to aim your gun in First Person view by pressing and holding R1. This helps for accuracy, and the ability to hold up guards easy.

The graphics from the gameplay and fmv's are stunning. For an early PS2 game, the graphics are nicely done. They're very smooth and bright, which gives the game a nice feel when playing.

The stealth aspect of this game is very nicely done, in comparison to the previous title. Yes, the classic hiding under a box is back in full swing, but you can hide in lockers, peak behind walls to shoot, crawl under a table etc. However, if you're spotted by an enemy, the alarm will go off and a team of enemies storm into your area to search for you. However, in this game, you can blow out the enemies radios so that they can't call for backup, you can also take out one of their arms so they can't shoot you either, which helps.

Bosses:

There are some new enemies in this game which makes the game a lot more interesting. Every boss is different, some are even supernatural. Depending on which mode, some of the bosses come across as very hard, especially to new players. You even get the chance to fight off many Metal Gears which is a tough fight.

Unlock items:

The unlockables in this game are similar to those in Metal Gear Solid, more so in Snakes chapter than Raidens chapter of the game. Snake still has the Bandana and Stealth camoflauge after unlocking them, whereas Raiden has 4 unlocks. Those being; Brown wig, Orange wig, Blue wig and Stealth. Each wig is different, the brown wig giving you infinite ammo, the orange wig giving you infinite grip when hanging and the blue wig giving you infinite air when underwater.

Every one of these items are a lot of fun to use, and some are harder to unlock than others.

Playable Characters:

A lot of fans were disappointed they didn't get to play as the Legend himself, Solid Snake for the majority of the game. Since Snake is only playable in the Tanker chapter of the game, which is the shortest, old fans of the MGS series were disheartened. The second chapter introduces the new character, Raiden who you play the biggest majority of the game as.

Overall:

Overall, the whole game is amazing and definitely one of my favourites of the MGS series. For hardcore MGS fans, it's not rated highly and isn't considered one of their favourite of the series, because of the lack of game time you play as Solid Snake. Apart from this, it's an excellent game and completely worth the play.

PS2  Absolutely Fantastic 5.0

THE GOOD:
- Storyline
- Graphics
- Amount of game-play

THE BAD:
- Not playing as Snake for most of the game?
- A storyline that sometimes gets difficult to understand.

SUMMARY:
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is one of the very few PS2 games that must be owned. It has scored 10 out of 10 in just about every gaming magazine, and can rightfully be called one of the greatest games of all time. This game was the first game of the Metal Gear saga that I had owned and it is addictive.

The first trait that MGS2 has is it's amazing storyline. A group of terrorists known as the "Sons of Liberty" have taken over The Big Shell, an offshore clean-up facility. You play as Raiden, the rookie member of the new Foxhound, a unit that was decimated four years previously. Raiden's mission is to rescue the U.S. President, who is being held hostage, rescue the other hostages, and to disarm the terrorists by any means necessary. You start off the game without any weapons, but throughout the game you find weapons that can cause a lot of damage.

Sometimes though, you may not even need to use your weapons. Since this is a stealth game, you can actually complete it by either stealthily sneaking past enemy soldiers, or you can shoot through them with your weapons. If you do decide to shoot through them, be careful, as since the game is made so that you sneak past the enemy, if a guard sees you, he will call for back-up and in no time you will have at least five heavily armoured soldiers chasing you.

The graphics are absolutely sexy. For a game that was released basically at the same time as the PS2, the graphics rival even games that have been released lately.

Also, the amount of game-play involved to actually finish this game completely is astounding. Collect a certain amount of dog tags from enemy soldiers, and you can get different wigs, that can give you special abilities, like having unlimited ammo. Or if you collect just about every dog tag, you can get the stealth camouflage, making you invisible to every enemy.

One of the let downs of this game was the fact that you didn't play as the legendary Solid Snake (the hero of the original Metal Gear Solid game) for most of the game. You play as him in the first chapter of the game, but for the second chapter he is just a character who is helping you throughout the game. A lot of people did not like this, but some understood why Hideo Kojima did this. You actually learn more about Snake when you are playing as a different character.

Another part of the game that people may dislike is the confusing storyline. After your first play through, you will be left there thinking "What the hell did that mean?" This then makes you want to play through again a second time, and a third, etc.

I'm going to give this game a 5 out of 5, as there aren't many things that can reduce this score. This was my first Metal Gear Solid game, and I have now played all the others, only because I loved this one. Even if you are mildly interested in an action/strategy game, then this is a must have.

THE GOOD:
- Graphics
- Weapons
- The story is great
- Stealth gameplay

THE BAD:
- Game is very short

SUMMARY:
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is quite the game if you ask me. If you just look at it, you can immediately tell that its going to be great, because there are two stories. Other than that, it really looks good because Snake is back and also with more weapons, better graphics - providing a better overall look of the game, and better AI control than before. The stealth-action gameplay is also there because you have to do a bit more sneaking around than before, and it really makes the game shine better because thats what its all about.

The enemies that you come across, its harder to kill them because they are a lot smarter. I believe that was added there to make the game seem mroe difficult, and it succeeds in doing that because its a lot more of a challenge. Although its a lot shorter and it might cut the fun in half for gamers, its still an awesome game that you should pick up no matter what, because its really cheap now, and its well worth the money.

THE GOOD:
*Graphics.
*Game Play
*Two stories
*Wide Weapon Selection

THE BAD:
*Game length
*2nd Story
*Blood/Gore

SUMMARY:
Summary-After the first game, (Metal Gear Solid), Snake, and his friend Otagon are looking for a new type of Metal Gear, after snake is disbaned from his old military group. (Fox-Hound.) Later in the story Another Hero, Raidan, a member of Fox-Hound meets up with snake, going under the name of Pliskin. Raidin has to battle and beat members of a terrorist group to help secure Metal Gear.

Review-If you haven't played the first game, you really should. The Graphics are good, showing you even the little details on the hostage terrorists. There is a wide selection of weapons, but I try and stick to non-leathal weapons, like a tranq. They should have also took some of the blood out of the game. I mean it's ok when you shoot someone and blood goes on the wall, but shooting them after there dead, and then they spray blood, thats unreal. There are two story lines, short though. This is a game I recommend you rent more then buy. You really have to play this game though, The ending is quite mysterious.

THE GOOD:
The realism
The graphics
Everything!

THE BAD:
Too short of a story
Gets way too confusing towards to end of the game

SUMMARY:
This is one of my favouratist PS2 games I have, I 100% love it. The graphics rule, the gameplay rules.. I can't find anything I hate about it.

If I was to sujest the best game in the world to someone I'd definatly pick this as it. I can't wait untill Snake Eater comes out, although I do think Sonds of Liberty will probabally be the best from the whole series of Metal Gear.

I do think that some of the game is really weird like the Codecing at the end of the game when Campbell starts talking jibberish and says random things and it's just pointless. I didn't really like the Cyphers that were around, they really pissed me off at times. I liked the idea of collecting tons of dog tags to get bandana and stealth, it's hard but fun pointing your gun at people and they shit themselfs. This game is just basically awesome! That's why I rate it full marks.

THE GOOD:
- The story is still great
- The AI is smarter
- The action- stealth gameplay
- The musical score and cutscenes

THE BAD:
- Some people believe the cutscenes are too long.

SUMMARY:
Metal Gear Solid 2 in my honest opinion is the PS2' defining title. This game has everything you could ask for. The story and the cutscenes are still great just like the last game, and after you beat it the first time your jaw will literally hit the floor. The musical score is one of the best I've ever heard in a videogame with it's great orchestra pieces. The gameplay is alot like the last game except that the enemies are smarter and harder to kill/knockout. There's also alot of extra fun stuff you can do with the guards as well. Plus you'll want to get all the dog tags so this game will last for months without you getting bored of it. Some of the cutscenes are a little long but there needed to make the story make sense. All in all I would say that anyone with a PS2 should play Metal Gear Solid 2.

You first start off will as snake on a tanker.ON the tanker you must get pic's of a new Medal Gear for the U.S. Marines. Terriestes take over the ship. This point
make no sense how about 120 to 240 terriiest take over this ship will over 1000 U.S. Marines and the marines don't even know. Some after you take the pic's Revoler
from the first Medal Gear Solid blow up the tanker and steals the new Meadal Gear.

Everyone think Snake is dead.Terriestes have taken over an oil plant with the preinent of the U.S.A. and

you make the two SEAL teams are killed and you meet
up with Snake but you don't know it's him because he's
dress up like a SEAL.TO say the rest of the game well that would be ruin the story for you.

PS2  Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty: A Classic 5.0

THE GOOD:
Graphics
Storyline (Twisting Plot/The Best I've Ever Seen in a Game)
Variety of Weapons
Different Ways to do things
Good AI (Artificial Intelligence)
Choice of Difficulty
$20 is a sweet deal

THE BAD:
Long Cutscenes
Storyline can be confusing for first time Metal Gear players

SUMMARY:
Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty is the sequel to the original Metal Gear Solid and is an instant classic. The graphics are detailed and the game is realistic. The guards make mistakes because they are lifelike. The controls are responsive and there aren't any bad camera angles. Once you get used to the controls it will feel natural and normal as any other game, the controls don't take a large amount of memorization. The AI aren't stupid, once they hear something they'll investigate and if they spot you they'll call for backup right away. The cutscenes are sweet and full of action but some can drag on and you can't skip them on the first time through the game. You'll need to play either the original Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation or the remake Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes to get the whole storyline. There is a choice of difficulty for new action players and new Metal Gear players. This good to fit everyone's needs (expierienced players don't want to be babied with an easy title). Plus $20 is a nice deal for an awesome game like this. A must for any action gamer.
