I never bought the game as I can't find a copy, but renting will have to do mainly because Konquest (the game's adventure mode) is quite short. You'll find that 1 or 2 of the hundreds of fights are going to be very hard as you'll also be the character you always use. However, the length isn't what I imagine. I imagined a long length of about 20 hours but then got about 9 hours, making this a definate rent-only game unless you want to finish it 100%, in which case, rent it again or buy it if you like short games. More on this later.

Anyway, the game's intro scene will be, yes, after the events of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. With Raiden going up against the Deadly Alliance known as Quan Chi and Shang-Tsung. Raiden was about to knock them out, but then Shang-Tsung got Raiden into a lock and defeated him. Then the dragon god (O****) (I really cannot spoil the main bad guy, now, can I) comes to rule again and the 3 try to stop him, but it doesn't come close to helping....
THE GOOD:
A great selection of fighters
Konquest Mode is huge and a game in itself
Fluent fighting
Imaginative weaponry
Some old characters have made a welcome return, such as Baraka, Ermac, and Liu Kang
New characters such as Darrius, Hotaru, and Shujinko.

THE BAD:
Noob and Smoke should be seperate characters
Sindel should be cast into a pit of nothingness, never to return
Onaga has to be the worst boss in MK history. There is no skill involved in beating him, abuse of a single combo is the only way to win.
WHERE THE HELL IS RAIN?!

SUMMARY:
Mortal Kombat is back and it's better than ever. With explosive fighting, gruesome deathtraps, superb fighting and a whole lot more this will keep you hooked for weeks. And who cares if the super unlockables aren't real, it's still an almost perfect fighting game.

THE GOOD:
lots of blood. lots and lots of blood. this game is definitely for blood lovers. i have to say, it is quite fun. the konquest mode is huge, and there is an incredible amount of things to do. there are 3 more modes as well, the classic arcade, puzzle mode, and chess mode.

THE BAD:
chess mode and puzzle mode kinda sucked. i can pretty much do the same thing (but a bit more fun) on the internet for free.

SUMMARY:
the gameplay has definitely gotten better, the levels are very interactive, and very, very fun. the puzzle mode lacked much, as well as chess. the konquest mode can be entertaining for an incredible amount of time because of all the things that can be done, the entire mode is immense. beautiful graphics as well. recommended highly, a great game to play for and incredible length of time. a great replay value as well.

THE GOOD:
> Nice graphics
> Characters
> Death traps
> Extra modes

THE BAD:
> Selection of characters
> Final boss

SUMMARY:
Most people would mark MK: D down because of Konquest and i was going to. TThen i remembered that it's stupid to mark something down for an extra feature so i didnt, anyway

Graphics 9.5/10

Beautiful graphics to this game, nothing jaw dropping or ball grabbing but still beautifully done, espeacially in death traps and fatalities/ hara kiris. If after a match you dont have a sick little grin on your face, there's something wrong with you

Sound 1.3/10

Meh. No "Toasty" uppercuts, not particuarly good music and weak voice acting bring this down. The only good bits of sound are:

"Fatality"
Shoujinko's "Get over here" (hours of enjoyment)
Lui Kang
Death...

THE GOOD:
I really like the selection of characters in this game. Raiden is my all time favorite though. I also like Liu Kang. I found Liu Kang's trainng easy. I Like Baraka only for his wepons because they are soo stroong.

THE BAD:
I Hate it when Your opponent is Sub-Zero And they use freeze ball and then throw you over and over. I also hate Shujinko because you have to unlock his special moves. Hotaru's training is so stupid, i mean, talk about stupid combos!

SUMMARY:
It Doesn"t matter who you have unlocked, it also matter how well you play. HINT:Raiden's level 2 fatality is UP,Down, Forward, Forward, Square {Far}. Though i haven't got everything yet, i still have every character! Liu Kang is in edenia. Noob-Smoke, i only hate him because you can do so many friggn' branching combos.

History seems to repeat itself doesn't it? Back in the medieval ages people were controlled by the church and now people are controlled by the media. It's not too different with videogames either, specifically with Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat first gained its electrifying success in the arcades of 1992. It has grown massively since then. Based on its HUGE fan base, MK projects are low-risk high-rewards gigs. Even under heavy criticism, MK still manages to resurface to produce more multi-million selling games. MK: Deception is no different. But just how good of a game is it?

GRAPHICS (8/10)
MK returns with the same engine used from Deadly Alliance except with a bit more of polishing. The characters are still blocky and stiff and the overall effect on the fighting system is still painful. MK can't flow as freely as other brawlers like Virtua Fighter 4 or Soul Caliber, hence forth failing to add the proper depth required to make 'genuine' fighting games. The...

THE GOOD:
2 fatalities
hara kiri
konquest is allright
chess mode
death traps

THE BAD:
new characters and some other characters
puzzle combat

SUMMARY:
what is really ****** me of is the new characters all of the new characters in this one are ****** and what i don't like when they put new characters with somebody elses moves so why not just to keep the old characters like

jax - darius
sonya - kira
johny cage - kobra

i still don't konw why they do that same thing they did in a mk4 they put jarek for kano different looks but same moves and i really don't like that they should put more time into new characters make them classic ones make them cool one of a kind.

there is a lot of characters that i don't like since the da (hsu hao, drahmin, bo rai cho and whats up with blaze and mokap.........)
other then that i like this game i like the death traps the graphic is awsom but i really have no...

THE GOOD:
This might be a long list so:

1. The return of 2 fatalities
2. A new finisher called Hara-Kiri
3. A new Chess Kombat mode
4. A new Puzzle mode
5. Very impressive graphics
6. A couple of fatalities are kind of funny
7. Great gameplay
8. Has online play
9. The new Deathtraps

Do I need to go on?

THE BAD:
Nothing really

SUMMARY:
Difficulty: Easy

This is the best Mortal Kombat game I've ever played. If you like this game then proves you're a true Mortal Kombat fan. If you don't then you're not a true Mortal Kombat fan. Wow I don't know how much it can get much better than this. So buy the game unless you're not intrested in Mortal Kombat games. I would rate this game a 5.9/5 since it will let me but I'm sure the next Mortal Kombat game will be rated that. I rate this game a 5/5 or 10/10.

THE GOOD:
Multiple Fatalities are back baby!
Stage attacks and fatalities and suicides
Konquest mode
Chess and Puzzle mode
New Kombatants

THE BAD:
No Kung Lao is a big put down to me!
Though there are new kombatants, some are not worth training with.

SUMMARY:
I have always been a Mortal Kombat fanatic. Deadly Alliance was excellent. But the kombatants only had one fatality and konquest mode took forever to accomplish completion. The mini games were pretty cute and the Cooking With Scorpion video almost made me gag. In Deception, I was surpised with the sudden turn that Raiden took with the Deadly Alliance. And I was more taken with the new konquest mode. But, where is Kung Lao?! Thankfully, Scorpion was there I trained with him for the fist time. I think Shujinko is the best and only best new Kombatant added to MK. And why is the shredder dressed in blue? The tournoment is as usual great, but I really like the konquest mode...

THE GOOD:
Konquest Mode
Chess Kombat
Puzzle Kombat
Original and new characters
Cool new fatalities

THE BAD:
Some of the new characters arent too great.

SUMMARY:
Overall, the graphics are stunning, and gameplay is great. Konquest is somewhat difficult and fun to explore around in. The worlds are lush and open for you to explore almost every inch, and the day/month/year time settings will keep you searching for secrets for hours. The Krypt has some great secrets for you to unlock, and like Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, you must collect Koins to open them. Some of the Koffins in the Krypt are locked and must be opened with keys from Konquest. Puzzle Kombat and Chess Kombat are very interesting, especially seeing a miniature Kombatant getting squashed or eaten. If you like Mortal Kombat games at all, Mortal Kombat Deception will take you for a whole new adventure.
