Doing it Street Style. | 4.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: So many things to name, first you have the much improved graphics over Volume 1, the figures are much more detailed, and the jerseys look more authentic. Also throw in both street and NBA legends for one action packed game that is pretty much spanning 1969 - 2003 in Basketball.
Also, the Create a Baller mode is much more organized and useful. The courts are extremely realistic, and New York especially is rendered beautifully.THE BAD: The only thing bad about this is the loading time. I found it to be a bit too long for my taste, but it was well worth it almost every time. SUMMARY: As an owner of Volume 1, I enjoyed it very much, it's much simpler finesse and style put it leagues ahead of "official" games such as NBA Live and the other ones. It's flowing gameplay was and still is really captivating.
But Voulme 2. Well, I played my first game, chose any team I knew, opposed some of the legends, sure enough, I won. Wow, I was really excited. it wasn't until I got to Street School that I saw the greatness of the game, with new techniques that I have grown to use quite often. Well, from therei t's been a blur. The music, the at times stupid commentary, and excellent gameplay will keep you going, for a long time.

SUMMARY: This is one of the great basketball games that I have ever played in my live. The graphics of this game are very good and the basketball courts are very detailed. You get to play with NBA teams and with NBA legends which is pretty cool. There are now new and improved street players. Now you can even create your own team and try and become the best with it. There is now a new mode called be a legend and that is where you create your own person and you play agianst other people and to try to become the very best. There are lots of corts to choose from and very detailed. Also there are old school jerseys that you can unlock during the game. There are lots of new moves, combos, and signature moves. Also there is now a level 2 gamebraker which is pretty cool and it cant be blocked. The game is great and its worth buying. |

THE GOOD: -Signature Moves -Signature Dunks -NBA Legends -NBA Stars -Cool Game Modes -Old School Jerseys -Real Life Courts
THE BAD: -No Online Play SUMMARY: NBA Street Vol.Two is the best basketball game out there. You play three on three up to twenty-one and can have a team of up to five people. Your team can have NBA stars, NBA legends, created players, and street legends. You can earn old school jerseys and use them for your created players. You can also earn reward points and use them to buy development points to edit your created characters skills. You can also buy the old school jerseys and NBA legends with reward points. In a two player game you can customize the rules. The two player is really fun. This is a great game that you should buy even if you don't like basketball. |

NBA Street Volume 2-The trendyskaman Rundown | 3.3 0 comments |
by trendyskaman from Nashville, TN, Belmont U | May 28, 2003 |
THE GOOD: -Great classic NBA legends like Bill Walton and Wilt Chamberlain -Even better Street Legends like Stretch, Whitewater, Bonafide, Osmosis, et al. -New gamebreakers and combos -"Off the Heazy" and "Back 2 Papa" special moves, as well as kick passes -Seamless alley-oops and dunks -Customizable created players that you can literally train to be a legend -Sweet multiplayer, especially with four guysTHE BAD: -Very few gamemodes -No online functionality -Gameplay can be incredibly short and tedious SUMMARY: I didn't like the first NBA Street. In fact, I hated it. So it's a wonder I gave this game a chance, but my bro got me hyped for it. Let me tell you, this was a completely different experience. From the opening tip, I got the hang of the controls and was passing it off people's heads and completing double Gamebreaker combos. The first time I completed "Be a Legend" (on the medium difficulty) was incredibly fun, and I loved unlocking new jerseys and upgrading my player's attributes.
That being said, after I completed this game mode, I became a little dissatisfied with the title. The multiplayer aspect helped a little, though. No major improvements were made to the NBA Challenge mode, and it grew tedious winning games for the same amount of reward points over and over just to unlock the rapper "Nelly", whom I am surprised didn't break out into his St. Louis drawl when I unlocked him and actually decided to throw him in a game. I would have enjoyed hearing him say "Let's get some ooping in herre, jiggawhat..."
All things considered, NBA Street Vol. 2 is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor. However, if you're looking for a sports title to hold you through the summer, you might want to pick up a Madden game instead. Or NBA Live, or something. |

THE GOOD: Crazy moves, and you don't even have to remotely like basketball to like it(I hate b-ball myself). It's like ssx tricky meets boring basketballTHE BAD: No blood or fatalities??? I don't know. When you run over people when slamming I feel some damage should be done. SUMMARY: I saw a quick demo video for it, then I rented it, and now I'm buying it the day I return the rental. I don't really like sport games(the closest I have is SSX TRICKY). I saw a quick demo video for it, then I rented it, and now I'm buying it the day I return the rental. I don't really like sport games(the closest I have is SSX TRICKY). a definite BUY! |

NBA Street is probably the best arcade style basketball game ever, and EA BIG took advantage of the popularity of the series.
Gameplay: 10/10
In NBA Street 2, EA BIG took the original gameplay of NBA Street and improved it. They made the game much more deeper by adding a variety of new game modes.
First, there's the "Pick Up" game. This is the basic exhibition mode where you can play either against the computer or your friends. You can use this mode to earn "Reward Points" to unlock secrets.
"Street School" is mostly for beginners of the game to learn about the basic controls and aspects of the games. Veterans should complete this mode if they wish to unlock everything.
"Be a Legend" is probably the most popular mode for current players of the game. You get to create a baller by picking their physical features, outfits, and kicks. Your goal is to play pick up games and in tournaments to get respect. You'll be able to unlock new moves, throwback jerseys, and build your character to the ultimate baller. You will basically go across the country playing games and even earning yourself a unique nickname.
"NBA Challenge" is very similar to the first NBA Street. You will pick a team and play certain NBA teams in their respective regions. Each region will have a unique team of legendary players rather than the Street Legends in the first NBA Street.
Many new features are in like legendary players, Gamebreaker Level 2, new Street Legends, and the Off the Heezay move!
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in NBA Street Vol. 2 are very well done. It has the realistic look, but also has the fantasy look that an arcade game would have. The courts and environment are done extremely well and the crowd isn't too shabby either.
Sound: 8/10
EA BIG did an excellent job of listening to what their fans want. The first NBA Street featured a rather annoying commentator. This game however features a whole new commentator that is actually very decent. His lines are quite comical. For the record, the new commentator is named Bobbito Garcia, and he's a secret character.
The music isn't bad either. Just your basic hip-hop beats that put you in the mood. The selection isn't very large though unfortunately.
The sound effects are amazing. Nuff' said.
Controls: 10/10
The controls may seem confusing for beginners, but it's actually very simple. It's similar to NBA Street where the trigger buttons are turbo. You press the turbo buttons in different combinations to pull off different dunks and dribble moves.
Replay: 10/10
Game is an excellent multiplayer. Many characters, jerseys, and moves to unlock.
Overall Average: 9/10
By far the best arcade basketball game ever created. Totally surpassed the original NBA Street. |
