What I Think Of Need For Speed Most Wanted | 4.6 0 comments |
by TheViperX from Refer to, , NeoHome | Mar 13, 2008 |
THE GOOD: Some Good points about Need For Speed: Most Wanted are: Storyline Rides Rap Sheet Graphics All will explained laterTHE BAD: Some bad points about Need For Speed: Most Wanted are: Customization Options Crash Bugs in PC Helicopter As the good point i will explain later SUMMARY: "Be the most Notorious" Well that's pretty much what you have to do in Most Wanted.
Storyline: You start off doing 4 Races before being confronted by Sergeant Cross and says "racing in Rockport is finished" before you narrowly escape being arrested when you drive of to race then #15 Blacklist racer Razor. Before the race Razor messes with your car and lose your flash Silver & blue BMW M3 GTR in pink slips when police Sergeant Cross arrests you you are let go as there is not enough evidence when you leave Mia shows up and tells you Razor and "his boys" (Bull & Ronnie who drive SLR McLaren & Aston Martin DB9) have rocketed to #1, #2 & #3 on the Blacklist and you pick a car and start racing...
Rides: There are 60 - 70 rides that you can drive through Career Mode, Quick Race & Challenge Series. the range from the Lexus IS300 to the Porsche Carrera GT with cars like Toyota Supra, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII & Dodge Viper SRT10 as well.
Rap Sheet: the rap sheet is new to the NFS series which is how track how notorious you are with the police. This also tracks where you are in the rankings (infractions, Bounty & more) it shows how many times you've been busted and evaded, your CTS (Cost To State), bounty, infractions, what cars you drive and their individual stats.
Graphics: These graphics are about 3.8 but i think they are better than other EA Titles FIFA World Cup 06 & Command & Conquer Generals. Please Note i am using C&C:G Zero Hour. But these graphics are not as good as Tony Hawk Project8 & WWE SD V R 2008. The screen does jump like stop and start around some areas of Rockport. (There are 3 places in it Rosewood, Camden Beach & Rockport)(Note these may be fixed by adjusting your resolution.)
Sound & Controls: The controls to NFS: MW are easy to use and learn if you have played NFS Titles before on the same platform the control will be relatively the same as previous titles. Sound is very good the soundtrack is pretty decent featuring the song from The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift credits (YOU'LL BE UNDER MY WHEELS) & sound is of high quality.
Customization Options: I am not a fan of NFS: MW's Custom options there is a limit of 1 vinyl & not alot of rim colors. It's about the same as far as Rims, Spoilers & Hoods go but lack depth in the Body Kit region with 5-2 pre-set kits each car unlike NFSU2 where there was 15 different things for Side, Front & Back. Defiantly less customizable than NFSU2 but your car can still look sweet.
In the PC edition of the game there are crash bugs that are fixed with 1.3 Patch which also gives you LAN & Online play. For other platforms the are crash bugs but as predominate as the PC edition. PS: i have PC & PS2 editions of the game so it could vary.
Helicopters: In later pursuit levels helicopters will come down and attack you lightly but this can also be an advantage if you are looking for bounty. Helicopters will make it harder to evade but this will be explained if you get it around Blacklist #9-7?
Blacklist: The Blacklist is the main core to Most Wanted's Career mode as the main point is to win your car back from Razor (and have some fun at the same time you have to go through all 15 members of the blacklist.
Challenging A Blacklister: To vs a blacklister you will need to complete a number of Races, Milestones & reach a certain amount of bounty it will show like this Sonny #15 Races: 3 Milestones: 3 Bounty: $20,000 something like that
There are different types of Races & Milestones Races: Circuit, Sprint, Speedtrap, Tollbooth & Drag Milestones: Pursuit Evasion & Length, Bounty, Roadblocks, Spikestrips, Infractions, Tagging Cop Cars, Photo Ticket & one i can't remember Bounty is soft of hard to explain just smash cop cars to get it up
If you don't like pursuits this will be a hard game to complete because most of this game is about being known at the station.
This is perfect for people like me who love racing games but even if your not that in to them this is a great game that anyone will enjoy!
Something i should add if you get bored of Career Mode take a break and try the challenge series

THE GOOD: Nice graphics, lots of customization, large selection of cars, big maps, and pretty good soundtrackTHE BAD: controls a tiny bit rough, but no problem; also, near the end it can take a while to meet some of the requirements for completing the game SUMMARY: When I heard that there was a new Need for Speed coming out, I just couldn't resist buying it. I payed 50 bucks cash for it, and let me tell you: it is SO worth it. Even if you're not into the whole racing genre, this game is still very playable and cool. You can spend what seems like hours customizing your cars, because there are millions of things to choose from. The paints, body kits, spoilers, roof & hood scoops, window tints, rims, decals, custom gauges, engines, tires, turbos... they will draw you into this game like a fat guy seeing a Golden Corral commercial. This time, the game now has a free roam option with cop chases. Think Grand Theft Auto only instead of a guy, you're a car. You can raise your wanted level, all while dodging spike strips and roadblocks. Helicopters eventually get involved as well. And the missions... well, if you like 'em, they've got 'em. And I mean tons. The soundtrack isn't half bad in the rock department, featuring songs from Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Bullet for my Valentine, Mastodon, and more. The rap selections weren't hugely popular, though. The vehicular designs were nice and shiny, pretty damn realistic. Not, like, Gran Turismo, but they were close. And what's better is the choice of cars. I loved owning a Viper, a Corvette, AND a Lamborgini at the SAME DAMN TIME. I also loved the free-roaming stuff. Cool, cool. So, if you're into racing games, consider this a 9.5 out of 10. If not, give it a 8.9. Bravo. Another beautiful performance by EA games. |

Need for Speed; Most Wanted is a much needed departure from other racing games. Imagine yourself in this scenario: You're cruising the streets minding your own business when you hear over the police scanner that you've been spotted speeding. Within seconds a police cruiser appears on his own closing in fast from behind. You put your foot down and speed off leaving him for dust. Another call over the police radio gets your attention, he's calling for backup. Sure enough as you speed around a bend four police cruisers come speeding towards you trying to ram you off the road, road blocks get set up ahead and you narrowly escape through a gap in the block. Suddenly a helicopter appears overhead. Tracking your every move and relaying information back to the ground units. You dash into a side road in an attempt to flee the 5 squad cars behind you, 3 slam into a wall yet the remaining 2 stay with you determined to take you out. Another shortcut leads you onto a golf course, you manage to loose them but you're not out of the woods yet. You still need to hide till they give up searching. Through the police scanner you can hear dispatch calling out your last known location. A helicopter flies overhead but luckily you're hidden from view and eventually the chase is over.
That's just a little taster of what NFSMW has to offer.
The goal of the game is to become the number 1 most wanted racer. The game begins with you racing Razor. He currently holds the Number one spot on the blacklist. However Razor sabotages your car causing you to loose the race and your ride. That means revenge of course. In order to get revenge on Razor you need to challenge him first, however he's 1st on the Blacklist. You'll get to challenge him by working your way up the Blacklist. The Blacklist is a list of the 15 most wanted racers. Guess where you're ranked at the start of the game..yep... you're not even on the list...Yet. In order to get on the blacklist and eventually become number 1 you need to beat 15 racers. However beating them is not a simple task. Each Blacklist racer requires a certain amount of Bounty and Races won before you can challenge a blacklist racer.
There's a wide variety of different races to be done in NFSMW such as: - Circuit Races - Sprint - Drag - Tollbooth - Speedtrap
That's just the races. You also need to complete certain milestones to be able to challenge a racer. These could range from Dodging a certain amount of Roadblocks to Ramming a certain amount of Police cars.
Unlike previous Need For Speed games customizing your ride plays a very small part. Yes you can add different paints, rims, spoilers, turbo etc etc but there's never really an incentive to do so other then having a nice looking car.
All the cars are licensed and range from a VW Golf to a Lamborgini. There's not an immense amount of cars available but the ones that are available are good enough on their own.
As for the tracks. There are no real tracks like you'd see in other racing games. Instead a whole city is your playing ground. During a race roads will be blocked off to guide you around the track but other then that it simply does feel like you're racing through a real city.
One of the most impressive aspects of the game is the Police AI. They try to ram you off the road, take shortcuts in an attempt to catch up and basically do everything in their power to take you out.
All in all, Need For Speed Most Wanted is a heart pounding game when it comes to the later chases. It's a bit slow to get going and the cutscenes are few and far between but once you get a taste of running from the cops you'll be hooked. |

Need For Speed: Most Wanted | 4.0 0 comments |

With a whole new outlook, the Need For Speed series takes a different turn. With the past two games being about underground street racing, it was time for a change. Need For Speed: Most Wanted is based only in the day light, and has sort of lost some of the "underground street racing" feel, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
With a good amount of cars ranging from a Volkswagen Golf all the way to the Porsche Carrera GT there is bound to be a car for any-ones liking. You can modify most of these cars, but it is no where near the caliber of the Need For Speed: Underground series or Midnight Club 3: DUB edition. This game was meant more for the actual racing aspect rather than the modification aspect of the cars.
There is tons of new tracks and with the re-introduction of police the races are even harder to complete. They have the ability to stop you, and take away your car if there is too many infractions on it. You can also be chased by helicopters who launch logs out to try to stop you. Races can become very difficult if the police catch you breaking the law.
Overall I think Need For Speed: Most Wanted is an entertaining game, but it would be nice if there was a longer list of cars and more modification abilities. I recommend this game to any die-hard Need For Speed or racing game fan. |
