SUMMARY: Now Ive been playing first person shooters for a while, and the last good true first person I played was Half-Life. That was up untill today. Red Faction for the ps2 is gonna be what Goldeneye was for the N64. It had the same quality of half-life in the sense that it created a world were the story flowed so well without the worry of setting off guards at the drop of a hat a loading game after game, and at the same time stayed very close to a realistic style of play. I can't stress this enough, this game is amazing. 5 on everything.
This game is very excellent shooter for the PS2, although it is pretty awkard to get used to the control system of looking and moving with the analog sticks it soon becomes simple!
The Geo-Mod Technology, which I think is some fancy jumbo they made up to make it sound cool, is merely the ability to blow up just about everything, can't get through that door just blast around it!
Mediocre storyline, decent soundtrack nothing big name, Geo-Mod, fun Multiplayer, This game is a must have for every PS2 Owner!
SUMMARY: The game is awesome. detailed setting good interaction between blowing stuff up and a plot. did i mention u can blow walls up? omg its sooo cool are u hiding, well not anymore ill blow that wall up. Red Faction is the newest and most hyped up first person shooter in a long time. With the brand new Geo-Mod system, you are able to completely destroy your environment, no matter what it is, glass bridges, buildings, whatever you see, you can destroy. This can be used to find new areas, create new areas, and even set up traps where all your enemies can do is fall in a hole and wait to get shot. But is Red Faction just a first person shooter with a new innovative feature, or does it offer something that many other first person shooters are missing, a good story line? Well, Red Faction has an incredible story line with great enemy AI. If there was ever a first person shooter that has lived up to its hype, then it would be Red Faction.

THE GOOD: The graphics, the variety of weapons, blow up scenery!
THE BAD: The control system is awful, kind of repetitive.
SUMMARY: I played Red Faction expecting something different. First person shooters now are all pretty much the same, and few offer anything extra of note. Red Faction did not really disappoint in this field - blowing up walls and bridges, interacting with the scenery and so forth, was a refreshing change to the regular run/shoot/die games. The amount of weapons was also good.
But I didn't really enjoy the game much. The control system was poor and the gameplay was repetitive.
Red Faction - a nice idea, but not for everyone's tastes.
THE GOOD: Geo Mod, Graphics, Sound, Story, Gameplay! It also has really smart AI and really good Weapons. The whole mars scenario is great.
THE BAD: Controls need tweaking, but that can be done because u can reassign the whole controller to different things. so control isnt really a problem...
SUMMARY: This Game is Awesome, Buy it... you wont get tired of it. Theres so many tricks to figure out, like blastig the right wall down with a rocket launcher to get to a secret room, etc.
SUMMARY: Wow! OK, let me tell you about a few goodies that you may not read in other reviews:
- the Geo-Mod technology is the real deal. It's not simply cosmetic blast marks on various surfaces. I accidentally went trigger happy on what I thought was a sneaking bot, advanced, and then when he actually came at me, got stuck in the the hole I had dug with my rocket launcher. Totally, unforseen as I EXPECTED there to be a clear path.

How about these elements for a console shooter: picking up the dead and dumping the bodies in a dimly lit area, or shooting out the lights anywhere and then dumping the body; damage that after a certain point impedes your ability to scramble around looking for a health power up (you actually seem to be hobbling your way around); the ability to get hurt by approaching...
SUMMARY: I`ll make this simple,nice story but but does not compare to unreal tournament on ps2 for long term gaming.if you want to play on your own then it`s fine for maybe two nights rental,trust me i`m a gamer.multiplayer is better on all other fps on ps2 and you can take that to the bank!!the one good thing is that you can completely customise the controls to whatever you want,but shame thats the only thing that stands out apart from the geo mod system.rental only i`m afraid.bring on timesplitters 2.
THE GOOD: Lots of fun gameplay, stunning visuals, great weapons, great sound, sweet storyline.
THE BAD: Some of the characters faces could of been better, other than that the controls are cumbersome for the beginner. But once you get used to them its pretty easy to use, also you cant change the controls too much just reverse them. But still very good.
SUMMARY: Once I started getting into the heart of this game it became very addictive. The storyline rocks and that is what keeps you playing more and more, the enviroment in this game is very much alive. If you have a rocket launcher or explosives you can pretty much blast your way anywhere you want. Remember those games where you come to a certain spot and cant find a key to the door that you need, well in this game if you have some explosives handy you can blast your way around, under or over the door.
