THE GOOD:
some top professional players used.

THE BAD:
easy to miss the ball even when it bounces in front of you. overall tennis gameplay.

SUMMARY:
I read the previous review which sounds like an official press release and felt compelled to write and give my opinion...

I was hanging out for a long time to play a tennis game on the PS2 and last weekend i finally played one at my mate's place (4ppl via a multitap). Maybe i was expecting too much from the PS2 but after playing TopSpin (Xbox) i was EXTREMELY disappointed with SCTPT2 on the PS2. To be fair i didn't try the other features, which i'm sure are good - i only played the doubles matches via a multitap...

If you're after a game that is intuitive, that you can just pick up and play tennis matches straight from the box with minimal fuss AND expect fun rallies then look elsewhere. What annoyed me the most in this game was that your player couldn't just be generally near where the ball bounces in order to return it (which in other tennis games paves the way for great rallies!!). Instead you had to be positioned in the right place and press your button at the right time to hit the ball. It was not a forgiving game and it was quite frustrating when it seemed like the player should have hit the ball but missed (this happened more often than not). Though having said that there were some rare moments of great volleying rallies. If you're after realism this game is it because if you were to play a professional tennis player we'd be missing the ball most of the time too!!

I know I'm biased but it's because i'm disappointed plus i've been spoilt by TopSpin which is much more forgiving in gameplay and a lot of fun - if you don't have high expectations and aren't worried about positioning your player perfectly then it's a tennis game that will work, otherwise wait for another company to release a tennis title worthy of the player's name they use.
