THE GOOD:
~The stealth like game play
~The graphics
~The physics
~The detail to many things
~The cool moves you can do

THE BAD:
~Not to much action at sometimes
~The enemies make stupid movements

SUMMARY:
Finally the PS2 has a great game that is based around stealth/action. The first time I saw this game I wasn't to sure about it but I had cash and there wern't many good games out that I don't have so I went and got it. It turned out ok for the first mission but after that the game really kicks in.

There aren't may levels (nine) but they keep you in there for a while as they are quite big. Also this is a difficult game and it adds more time onto the levels you play.

The graphics are amazing with many different lighting affects which add to the atmosphere in the game. Also if you notice this game is one of the few that actually has coded atmosphere. This is where for eg. You walk past the sun but instead of the whole lighting affect been canceled the light goes around your body which makes a cool affect.

There are many cool movements in which you can do. These movements help you around the levels to get past or kill your enemies. Though in some missions you won't be allowed to kill any one as they are "good" but will attack on site.

The physics in the game are quite simply one of the best I have ever seen. Every thing is fluent except sometimes the enemies can make stupid movements that look dodgy.

This game can get a tiny bit boing but you can always liven it up as you choose how you want to play it. There are many cool gadgets at your disposal and are really usefull.

I recommend getting this game as it is a classic and a must own.

THE GOOD:
Excellent Graphics (considering it's a PS2 game), Excellent gameplay, Excellent story-line, Easy controls, Great sound (Even better if you have surround sound). This game has absolutely everything you would want from a stealth game.

THE BAD:
It's a bit shorter than I'd thought it would be; Don't get me wrong, it's not short; I just expected it to be longer. There's only 2 available guns to use.

SUMMARY:
*The gadgets are an excellent addition to the game.
*Very realistic game.
*A must buy, if you have a PS2 and like stealth game. Three thumbs up (if that's possible).
*Great sound.
*The storyline will keep you on the edge of your seat.
*Addictive game, I was so addicted to playing this game, I beat it in 3 days. It was a good 10 hours of playing each day.

THE GOOD:
Great graphics
Great storyline
Briliant stealth
Awesome characters

THE BAD:
Hard levels
Nothing else to complain about!

SUMMARY:
Splinter Cell is one of hottest games of the year! It is an essential game to your collection as of the great graphics, storyline, chaarcters and stealth this beats MGS2: Sons Of Liberty hands down! It is completely based on stealth and some levels you aren't aloud to kill any1 until you have found documents/data so that Lambert(the commander can order the Main charatcer Sam Fisher authorisation to fire!

This game is a true action/stealth game as some levels will make your heart pump with excitement!

The only bad thing is that the levels are hard to very hard to complete as most levels take 2-5 hours to finish as most of the time you are getting killed by guards or being seen!

Overall this is a great game and I would recommend it to anybody who was interested in it! If I could I would give it a 6 out of 5!

THE GOOD:
- amazing graphics - storyline is great - gameplay is just so addictive and easy - controls are a gem, a great conversion job - Sam is likeable, its not a case of crap main character crap game. - Movements are all so fluid - They have finally nailed a perfect game completion time - the camera has been fixed from the demo version, so don't judge by it

THE BAD:
- Can be frustrating - Some issues with aiming and shooting - Occasionally bad AI. People can sometimes see you in the complete darkness, other times they can't. - Only 2 difficulty settings, normal and hard. For wooses this ain't. (meaning its not a good game for a first time player, the more experienced person whos knows were buttons are should be ok though) - Inability to save when you want (like PC version)

SUMMARY:
Well, because I am not a great fan of stealth games, I waited until this game came down to platinum. I was not to be disappointed. I eargerl walked into GAME as the man and me had a chat about stealth games, how lucky I was to get the last platinum copy in all of Northern Ireland. Well, I popped the disc, and said "Oh, the opening cutscene is played by real characters". On closer inspection I realised I was wrong. The graphics literally are that good. Anyways, I started off on training level. the sheer amount of moves that Sam has are staggering (the man can do split jumps in mid air damn it!). Makes Snake look like Tommy Vercetti (pm me if you don't get this). First of all, the key element of this game is using lights and shadows to your advantage. A quick play around, a few alarms, and I realised just how important it was to do this. Next of all, hiding bodies is crucial. If you think you have cleared the way, and don't need to hide bodies, think again. The game plays in the factor of people walking about randomly, for whatever reason. Hide the bodies. On with the bad stuff. As many have mentioned already, headshots do not kill all the time. Also, it can take sometimes up to 7 shots to kill by shooting in the body. I guess stealth played such a big factor, Ubi Soft forgot completely about shooting. Also, this game is hard. If you want a game that you can complete, bring it back within a 10 day limit and get another 1, you're wrong. Its long, its a massive game. Its fun. Possibly the worst thing is lack of savepoints and checkpoints. In the PC version we could save when we want. Not the case for the ps2. This is very disappointing, and leads to excess frustration. Enough of my whining though. This game is first class, and is well worthy of its score. Go buy it.

After watching the intro cut-scene i was just taken away with the amazing graphics - and graphical realism persists throughout the game. When u start playing for the first time, the controls may seem just a little complicated at first. But after some practice, u shouldn't consider this to be a major problem. The range of weapons may be somewhat limited, yet that should make a game based on stealth just a little more interesting (there is a greater range of gadgets though). The difficulty of some of the levels seem challenging, but that will u keep u busy for at least a few weeks. Other apects, such as gameplay, or even the sound effects, help boost the quality of the game.

After completing the missions, u do get rewarded with unlockable videos, but that's about it really. That might be the only thing to put u off after doing your very best to finally complete the game.

Overall, Splinter Cell is definitely worth your money.

PS2  Stealth action brought to your own home. 4.3

After hearing about the rave reviews for the Xbox version of Splinter Cell, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the PS2 version. After buying it, I started playing it and I fully understood why it is called "Stealth Action Redefined." When compared to its rival, Metal Gear Solid, this game is how stealth is meant to be. By focusing on lights and shadows to enhance the experience, it is something fresh and original to the gaming world. The voice of Sam Fisher by Michael Ironside was a perfect casting job by Ubi Soft and I hope that he is in all future installments which will be numerous hopefully. The graphics in this game are amongst the five best that you can find on the PS2. With the heavy emphasis on lighting and shadows like I said above, graphics were crucial to make the experience enjoyable and although they weren't as good as the Xbox version due to system restrictions, they were still great for a PS2 game. The mouth movements came through clear and crisp and the cutscene inbetween missions are amazing pieces of visual digital technology. The nightvision goggles added another element to this game by itself along with the heat vision. With such a cool feature, you will probably miss out on Splinter Cell's visual beauty because Night Vision goggles kick so much ass to use. It adds a huge trick to Sam's bad and then switch it to thermal mode where you see the guards in yellow, green and blue colors, you kill the guards without them even realizing what was about to happen with both thermal and nightvision. The SC Pistol is the weapon that you will live and die by until you get the SC-20K. It is a handgun with a silencer attached to it for obvious reasons. I felt that many weapons were unnecessary such as the disposable pick, chemical flare, frag grenade, gun grenade, and other weapons that I never had to use because I mainly used the SC Pistol, SC-20K, the lock pick, optic cable, and the ring airfoil round and camera jammer occasionally. The actual missions in this game were all well done but in my case, the AI was very tame and I was dissapointed after hearing that the PS2 version would have dumbed down AI so I played and completed this game only on hard and didn't bother with normal. I felt that the full training that takes places at the start of the game didn't start becoming necessary until level 8 and later by forcing you to utilize everything you had learned while in earlier missions, you only need to know the basic wall jumps and climb ladders. The AI that I did find difficult were the dogs in the later missions because they killed you very quickly and it took me several tries and near death to kill them. Apart from that, I felt that the real hard part was figuring out what to do exactly as opposed to knowing what to do but still unable to do it. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is a unique experience for any gamers owning any of the 3 current systems but for the PS2 and Gamecube versions, the AI not being that difficult was the main drawback for me. I also would have liked a more climatic ending like you would have in Metal Gear Solid because it seemed like any other mission and didn't feel like it was done. I first played the first four levels months ago and then stopped playing because I got bored of the AI but I started playing again a week ago and I beat the game tonight. It is a great game to own but you may be somewhat dissapointed with the difficulty level and hopefully they will step it up a notch for Splinter Cell: Pandora Tommorow, a game that I will be getting.

THE GOOD:
This game has incredible graphics and fascinating gameplay. Interesting tools and ways of getting around make just progressing exciting. Here's the part you should write down:

This game is most fun when it's 1 in the morning, and you can your cousin are stuck on one part with only one bullet, and some bottles (which you can use to get a guards attention)

My cousin and I each found that we were skilled at seperate little bits of the game. We took turns with the first part, but he was great at sneaking up on this one guy and knocking him out, and then we'd take turns with the next part, altho eventually he decided I was the only one good at that laste part when we had to make use of our one bullet. It took us two hours, but we finally reached the next save point. Since then he tells me he hasn't gotten any further.

THE BAD:
Sadly this game is hardly as much fun by yourself, in less goofy suroundings, which is why I'm only giving it a 3.

SUMMARY:
The bottom line. I'm giving this a 3 out of fond memories of late nights, playing the game with my cuz while giggling our heads off because of the caffine in the cocacola. If you have friends you enjoy vid games with, get this one.

PS2  Best Stealth/Action Title Out There 5.0

THE GOOD:
Great sound effects for every action (footsteps, etc.). The missions are elaborate with many objectives that will keep you busy for hours on end. Tons of gadgets you can use for different tasks.

THE BAD:
Tough AI. Computer villians in this game can either be too smart or too stupid, but this doesn't affect the gameplay at all. It's still a great game

SUMMARY:
This game gives Metal Gear Solid 2 a run for it's money. The missions in this game are incredible, and the objectives are well thought-out and fun to complete. This stands out from most action games because your primary weapon is stealth, along with a pistol (if your stealth fails you at some point).

Graphics: 4.5 - There are a few minor glitches, but nothing too big. The graphics are still very smooth and detailed.

Sound: 5.0 - The sound effects in this game are amazing. Every possible thing that can make noise makes noise (walking, brushing up against things, etc.)

Control: 4.5 - Definitely better than MGS 2 controls, and are fairly simple to master.

Overall: 5.0 - This game is a must have for any fan of stealth/action titles. Everything about this game is near flawless and fun.

I'm probably one of Tom Clancy's biggest fans, and when I heard this came out for Playstation 2, I hurried on over to the store and picked this up right away. I got the very last copy. When I got home, I opened the case and put it in.

From the first moment, I was hooked. This is not some kind of Rambo or Terminator type game, you're not going to rush into a room guns a blazing and blow everyone's brains out. This game takes some serious skill, you got to be stealthy, and be able to plan. Only armed with an arsenal of two weapons, a silenced pistol and a semi-automatic assualt rifle. But you'll be armed to the teeth with special gadgets, from smoke grenades, to surveillance camera jammers.

Graphics: 5.0/5.0 This game shows almost every single detail on the walls and even the enemies uniform.

Sound: 5.0/5.0 The weapons actually sound real and the voice acting is SUPERB. The actor, Michael Ironside, is a good actor and he finally voice acted a game.

Fun: 5.0/5.0 This game is very fun, you have many different stratigies to beat the levels.

Replay value: 4.5 Once you finish the game, you don't wanna bust your ass finishing it again. But it can be fun just loading up a level and messing around or finding different ways to finish it.

OVERALL SCORE: 4.9/5.0
