"This isn't SmackDown! vs. Raw. It's last year's SmackDown! with a few mini-games, an updated (and therefore poorer) rota and embarrassingly duff online play. As a wrestling game, though, it's still the best - the fastest, smoothest and most authentic representation of the clenbuterol pantomime. But if you've got Here Comes the Pain (now available for half the price, remember), this near-identical remix is hardly worth the outlay for the mini-innovations it contains."

"THQ's SmackDown! franchise has always been the company's biggest seller, at least where WWE games are concerned. This year's edition marks a change in direction for the series, starting with a new name: WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw."

"SmackDown! vs. Raw is a fun, full-featured wrestling game that brings some neat gameplay additions to the table, but you won't be able to shake the feeling that it isn't living up to its potential."

"WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW is getting ready to hit the PS2 like a ton of bricks this fall. Easily one of the most, if not the most, anticipated sports game to come out this year, SmackDown! vs. RAW could very well have sales in the same unbelievable range as the previous entries in the series. With new wrestlers, new moves, new voices, deeper storylines, more customization, and the possibility of online play (which is already in beta testing), this game is going to be frickin' massive."
